Guest guest
Om namo bhagavate sri ramanaya ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today is mother Alagammal's Samadhi-day, the day when she by Bhagavan's help and grace went into the Maha-Samadhi and eternal freedom. When at Ramanashram last November I stayed for long in the small room, where Mother lived at Skandashram and where she finnaly died. I even laid down at her place, disturbed by no one. ... It is a very small room - and through the open door one has a nice look out in nature ... So she must have laid there in her last sickness - looking through this door or with eyes closed ... when Bhagavan came in to stay with her during her last hours - and laid his hands upon her head and chest .... Wondering what great thing happened at her last day and what Grace ... and if it cannot happen to us likewise... so that this birth finds its final fullfillment by his grace! I cannot otherwise than believe that all those who are sincerly devoted to Bhagavan and are going the path shown by Him will be given the same grace. In Sri Bhagavan Gabriele ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since the morning of 19th May 1922, her [mother's] condition became critical. She was lying in the room south of where Sri Bhagavan stayed. After his moning walk, Sri Bhagavan went into Mother's room and sat beside her. He ate his lunch there itself and was sitting beside her all the time. When he noticed her struggling for breath, he put his right hand on her chest. She became a little restful after a while. The time of Mother's liberation was drawing near. Sri Bhagavan put one of his hands on her head and another on her chest and sat quietly. Considering the seriousness of the situation, it was felt that supper should be served at 6 p.m. and Sri Bhagavan too was invited to eat. Sri Bhagavan asked others to eat, saying he would eat later. Niranjanandaswami, Ramakirshnaswami and I stayed with Sri Bhagavan. Others finished their supper. Kavyakanta Ganapathi Muni was sitting nearby. Raju Sastri, Vaidyanatha Sastri, Sundaresa Iyer and others started reciting the Vedas. Saranagathi Ramaswamy Iyer, a Punjabi devotee and a few others did 'Rama' japa. We who were near Sri Bhagavan started reciting Aksharamanamalai. At eight in the night Mother attained samadhi. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ reported by Kunju Swami in his reminiscences, p.p 63f ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Attachment: (image/jpeg) 1040 Skandashram, 8, Mother's room2.jpg [not stored]
