Guest guest
I know that Upathesa Saram was written by Ramana Maharishi in Tamil language and later it was translated to Sanskrit. I want to know whether that translation was made by bhagavan himself or some other person. Now I am memorising the Sanskrit versus. What is the name of the Tamil version? Recently I have seen a collections of movie clippings on Ramana Maharisi without sound. Was his voice recorded. Is it available? Om Namo Bhagavathe Sri Ramanaya! Guest guest
Dear Sri Duraivel, Bhagavan wrote the upadesa verses first as upadesa undiyar verses in tamil on the request of the great tamil poet sri Muruganar. Later he translated them into sanskrit as upadesa saram verses on the request of the great sanskrit scholar Kavyakantha Sri Ganapati Sastriyar. These are available in small booklets published by Sri Ramansramam. They may also be available in bookstalls in Chennai, Mumbai (Giri traders) and other cities. Please contact me by a personal email with your address. I will arrange to reach you a book on Upadesa undiyar. om gurave namah Bhagavanin tiruvadiyil, suri "T.Duraivel" <duraivel (AT) vsnl (DOT) net> wrote: I know that Upathesa Saram was written by Ramana Maharishi in Tamillanguage and later it was translated to Sanskrit. Guest guest
--- Dear Sri T.Duraivel,Yes the translation from Tamil to Sanskrit was translated by Sri Bhagavan himself. The original title was Upadesa-vundiyar.His voice was never successfully recorded ..Attempts were made with an early tape recorder but they failed. How appropriate for a Jivan Mukta who largely taught by Silence.Best wishes ,In His Grace, Alan. <duraivel wrote: > > I know that Upathesa Saram was written by Ramana Maharishi in Tamil > language and later it was translated to Sanskrit. Guest guest
Bhagavan also translated the poem into Telugu and Malayalam. The Malayalam version is unique as it ends with a 'phalashruti' (not found in other versions) which promises happiness and end of all misery for those who recite the verses.
