Guest guest
Master: What is the light for you? Disciple: By day the sun; by night a lamp. M: What is the light that perceives that light? D: The eye. M: What is the light that illumines the eye? D: That light is the intellect. M: What is the Light that knows the intellect? D: It is the 'I'. M: You are (therefore) the supreme Light of (all) lights. D: That am I. In the interior of the Heart-cave there shines alone the One Brahman as 'I-I', the self-conscious Atman. Realize that State of steadfast inherence in the Self, entering into the Heart either by diving deep within through Self-enquiry or by the submergence of the mind through breath-control. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ transl. by Osborne ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ M: By what light do you see? D: The sun by day, the lamp by night. M: By what light do you see these lights? D: The eye. M: By what light do you see the eye? D: The mind. M: By what light do you know the mind? D: My Self. M: You then are the Light of Lights. D: Yes, That I am. In the centre of the Heart-Cave there shines alone the one Brahman as the 'I-I', the Atman. Reach the Heart by diving deep in quest of the Self, or by controlling the mind with the breath, and stay established in the Atman. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ transl. by Swaminathan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
