'What gives you light?'

'It is the Sun by day,

A lamp by night.'

' what light knows this light ?'

'It is the eye'

'What light knows this again?'

'The light of mind.'

'What knows the light of mind?'

'Oh that is I'.

The Guru then replies:

'As such thou art the light of lights',

'I AM.'

 

This procedure of Enquiry is found in the Upanishads .
