without desire purifies the mind.

It aids liberation.

A story instead of a commentary:

 

Sampurnamma, one of the kitchen worker,

had made lots of strain to prepare a certain dish.

When it was served in the Hall all ate, but Bhagavan

not. She was very much disappointed.

The next day Sri Ramana was telling somebody:

"It is the cooking that matters, not the cook or the eater.

A thing done well, with love and devotion, is its own

reward. What happens to it later matters little,

for it is out of our hands."
