Guest guest
Dear Group, I thought this might be of some interest. Ramana Sahasram [This is an initial excerpt of a text, composed in the traditional manner by Dr. Ramamoorthy, of which a few copies were printed by SAT in 1997. The text consists of a thousand names of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi, arranged in alphabetical order according to the Sanskrit alphabet. Texts composed in this manner are traditionally used for recitation, worship, and devotional meditation purposes. Dr. Ramamoorthy composed the Sanskrit text, transliterated it, and then rendered it into English translation. A recording of him reciting the Sanskrit in its entirety in one session was made shortly thereafter, and the text was again recited during a holy event at SAT in which the President of Sri Ramanasramam participated, accompanied by the burning of camphor and the use of similar symbolic offerings of a puja before the picture of the Maharshi gracing the satsang hall. In this selection of the first few verses printed here, only the transliterated text (minus the diacritical marks) and translation are given.] Ramana Sahasram A Thousand Ramanas Om yasya smarana matrena janma-samsara-bandhanat vimucyate namas-tasmai bhagavate ramanarsaye Om Just by thinking of whom One is liberated from the birth And the bondage of samsara, To that Sage Bhagavan Sri Ramana, prostrations! 1.
