Guest guest
Hi, Wanted to share a thought. I am turned out of a restaurant for being inappropriately dressed. (Not classy enough). I feel angry and humiliated. What are the reasons? 1. I am hungry and badly need to eat. (Definitely not) 2. I am missing a chance to be with my friends and enjoy (can be done in the park free) 3. I will miss the exquisite cuisines 4. Miss the chance to eat at a very special place and talk about it in the right circles later. 5. My ego says I am a part of this group with my class, my money, and my intellect. When I am denied I feel insecure if I do not belong here where do I belong. I react to this. Who is this waiter to say I am not a part. So my very act of going there is to satisfy the identity of my ego and negating that means negating my existence. So at this point my existence is my ego. Am I thinking ok? Or is it too basic. Sorry I am just beginning. Regards Rajkumar

Can we negate our existence? We can see the identification with class, money, intellect. etc. The end of this identification is the end of what we think we are. The idea about what we are is not what we are. Our existence is never the ego, though we may wrongly think it is. And with good humor I ask you: Why don't you ask Who Am I instead of who is the waiter?

Did you by any chance came across ''A SEARCH IN SECRET INDIA '' By paul brunton... If so refer to the last 2 chapters. You will get the answer to all your questions. Yes ..we get hurt by denial because that ''i'' which got hurt IDENTIFIES'' itself with the events . treat all the events in life as waves in the ocean and be an onlooker without identifying yourself with them. When you are hurt by someone's comments : 1] remember that you are not the body to which these abuses are hurled at.'' or 2] In the bhakthi marga they say ''its will of God''/ maybe its better that i did not dine there tonight /maybe i have better things in offing... these attitudes help you to forget those hurt feelings and keep you going.[transforming the thoughts] Harping about what has happend and analysing them LOGICALLY will not take you anywhere.[intellect in spirituality is a BIG HURDLE...IT MUST GIVE WAY TO INTUITION] your mind is your friend and your enemy too...all you need to do is help it to adapt to new helpful attitudes instead of clinging on to the old ones. Ramana's self enquiry ''who is that who is getting hurt '' is also a thought which will successfully divert you from the thoughts that bother you... cheers

In response to someone who wished to reform the world and eradicate caste distinction (after a long conversation) Sri Ramana said: 'Why do you go to places where such distinctions are observed and cause pain to yourself? Why should you not seek places where they are not observed and be happy there?...' Guest guest
Dear Vicki: You are right. The present situation of disaster in the world, viz., in our minds, is due to these false values. The real cure is the investigation and discovery (in the sense of uncovering)of our true nature. Even those who think these false values are profitable to them are victims of these values, that is, victims of themselves.
