Guest guest
Consciousness alone is eternal, without beginning or end. It is said, ³This Self must be seen², ³One must hear about it.² Now... Undifferentiated identity exists always, separation, into things, does not. Like a bubble rising in the ocean under the influence of the wind, this momentary, transitory world arises from the Self. All of this universe is a mere manifestation totally reliant on the Supreme Self. It is the assumption of the One, without losing its One-ness, through apparent diversity, of separate unreal forms. As in a dream, according to will, one creates many, but on awaking there is only one, so it is with this universe. As a snake appears like rope, or oyster shell like silver, so this universe is seen to unfold from the Supreme Self. When the knowledge of the rope is obtained, the illusion of the snake is no longer manifest. Similarly with the knowledge of the Self, this universe, which exists merely as illusion, goes. Entirely dependent on the power of Time, which has small divisions superimposed on it, are the six kinds of activity, beginning with production (production/birth, existence, transformation, growth, decay, and destruction/death), [these are] the origins of the divisions in Being. Birth through to death belong to the body, not to the Self, like the phases of the moon, caused imperceptibly by this power of Time. Though apparently in the body, the wise one is never of the body, like one awakened from a dream. Although not in the body, the foolish one is apparently of the body, like one seeing in a dream.
