Jai Gurudev,

dear anu,

I chatted with my network admin he tells that if i can give hime the

file name he told that he would be letting me know what the fix is.

basically the fix depends on type of virus which has a charectrestic

file name,

2) he told a general rule that when you are opening an attatchment

sent as email ,instead of opening it right away by double clicking he

told that you should down load the file save it and then try to open

it from the required program, and if the downlaoded file happens to

be a exe told one should not take the risk of opening it.

say u get a file called foo.xls as an attatchment and it could

basically be a foo.xls.vba where vba part is made not visible, so

you think it is an excel(.xls) file and open it by double clicking

bascially you are opening a vba program becos windows links the files

to the programs that run it when you double click. SO DOUBLE CLICKING

is dangerous

so continuing again...

i have downlaoded the foo.xls file ,i dont double click but i go to

the EXCEL PROGRAM (which opens .xls files) and try to open the file

from the program ,it would not open because its a foo.xls.vba file ,

then it would right away inidicate that some thing is fishy , and

then you take the file name and go to the NORTON /symantec website

and

post the full file name over there and search for the fix they would

let u know what the virus and its fix and all that process....

3)or you can go to norton website www.norton.com you have a feature

called internet security check which tries to check your computer

thru u internet connection and report a solution after it has scanned,

i dont know much info abt this, but this is another option, but for

that you should have IE 4.01 and active X enabled...

if u can send the file name to me its ok ,as my admin offered me that

he would help me(instead of i asking him...

) with this when i told ur problem,

the fix would clean the virus and reboot the system for you that is

what he told so kind of cool...

hope this solves ur problem and other members also get the idea of

how to open attatchment and avoid attacks, i never bothered to know

all this stuff but i know now

dear birendraji

though i and amit have agreed to vanish, i wish to thank you and him

too for efforts. i first downloaded and reinstalled norton anti virus

but it went hayware. i then tried 30 day free trial of PCcillin. it to

said that there are no viruses. but then this is a better software and

when i scanned my PC after installing it gave me the name:

WORM_GONER.A. but the problem was it could do nothing to it, clean

rename, delete or quarantine. i then searched for the virus on the

net and found a fix on www.antivirus.com, followed instructions. so

today i reinstalled and uninstalled my antivirus software many times

trying various things. but for some reason i still got a message that

the virus was there ---now i understand that it was in the restore

folder (for ME)which cannot be cleaned until you disable to. this was

an instruction at www.symantec.com where i downloaded another fix

again. it said it found nothing. BUt thisytime after enabling my

system restore, and reistalling the PCcillin software, it still has

not found anything.. so maidan maar liya.

good, i learned new things, now i will look into the damage, and see

what can be undone. OK,

then i vanish again

wishes...

Jai Gurudev,

dear anu,

you people appear/manifest(i dont remember exact opposite of vanish)

and vanish like moon...

i dont know if vanishing sovles the problem, but any ways keep

looking at the queries posted and try to see that people are getting

some useful info..

see that tempo of this and sadhak site is mainted as much as is

possible to you.

you people have to also understand the satsanga part, amit was

tellling abt giving adivse on particular sadhana...(like chanting OM)

i hope no one is so advanced...

and the discussions should be in such a way that it keeps you

motivated, and keeps u doing sadhanas...

i think poeple can do sadhanas and satsanga also...

basically for sadhahas its always advisable to have a Gurudev

guidance...

i really cant understand how you people can do sadhana without

Gurudevs help/guidance...

pls do not loose satsanga from ur focus...

i basically belive is that we should all try to look towards our

sadGuru if we have one and if we dont have, its time to find one...

that only solves the problem, without a satGuru i dont think you can

have a good success rate in sadhanas...

with a satGuru without doing sadhanas also you can get all that you

want if he is pleased...

remember i was telling u abt taking little steps in earlier mail, i

have to add that steps should be valid ones too...pls dont leap.

my mail may be incoherent, pls dont feel hurt try to see the point.

i dont know if amit might also have lost focus abt the satsanga

thing...

i only can suggest...

coming to your virus....

basically showed ur email to my admin he just pointed out me to this

link

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.goner.a (AT) mm (DOT) removal.tool

..html

he told that antivirus just detects the virus and some times may

fix it but not always the case...

so removal tool removes the virus and its related only to specific

virus so each virus has its own removal tools.

so basically i assume urs is windows ME

1) you have to disable system restore

2)install and run the removal tool(fix goner exe)

at the end tool should give you the following at the end..

The total number of the scanned files.

The number of deleted files.

The number of viral processes terminated.

The number of registry values deleted.

(i dont know if you observed this ? this should actually tell whether

the removal tool has done to the virus)

3)and then you restart the computer

4)run removal tool to ensure

5)enable system restore

6)run antivirus software.

if the virus has affected ur already installed virus then

6)you must uninstall and then reinstall Norton AntiVirus before you

can start Norton AntiVirus or run LiveUpdate.

yes, but since i knew the name of the virus all i needed to do was

find a fix to it. antivirus and semantic are two separate sites

providing fixes.

for gen knwledge this is what it looks like in mail...WORM_GONER.A

reagrding the satsang part, i am so impressed that you are convinced

that talking to you is keeping satsang. cannot say this with

confidence for myself. so do not worry. as long as i am aliv ei will

nice to learn that.

i did not fully understand what you wrote and what you meant, but

anyways

you are dear to me so i wont mind whatever it is.

and one more thing that i wanted tell is you have good knowledge of

scriptures,poems... and i dont thing except for vijay and some other

anyone has such info... i dont have event 5 % of the scriptural and

other knowledge you possess, so discussion may not help you as u know

a lot but it would help people like me or the other members ,who are

ignorant abt the scriptures and poems

its not how much you give that matters but with what intention you

give thats the key(similar to faith).

i really didnt knew the asthavakra things and parvitiJI story...

any ways i hope you can get the point.. when you are talking abt

scriptures i think its not to be called as talking machines...

but sure when you talk of sadhanas that you dont have knowledge or

experinece and in that case what you told /amit told pracitice before

you preach concept is applicable and that is the reason that most of

my articles are just pointers to articles by sages...

so when iam posting i am not preaching it is he who is preaching...

and one more thing is that all sadhanas need not involve Mantras and

Malas ,Sadhana is more generalized thing..(i ll post some time abt

article on sadhann written by Bade Gurudev)

so the problems may have solutions which may not involve mantras also

i really want you to see the point and make the distinciton.

well i am not satisfied with the way that i wrote , iam not in a

mood to write, iam tired...

love

Namaste Sri Anu!

Biruji has a point- talking along does not constitute

satsangh but any contact among like minded people

constitutes satsangh. And in this age, where everyone

is cringing with anti-spirituality, it wise to

stickaround with similar minded people. To properly

evaluate a person, all you have to do is to take a

look at his friends. So I humbly request both you and

Amit to not do a vanishing act.

Now coming to something very practical and not just

talking all the time, here is a very useful aid on

developing concentration-

most of us would find that in doing japa most of the

time our thoughts are in something other than the

object of the japa. The mind is like a dog - when the

dog sees a cow it keeps running towards it. Then we

yell at it to come back and then it sees another cow

and then again we yell at it to come back. Then it

sees another cow ..... The mind needs training to be

one-focused. So here is a very practical way to

develop concentration. Start doing japa with the mala

from the meru, when you have first stray thought,

start back from the meru(and firmly admonish the mind,

that if you do deviate again, I will punish you by

going back to the meru, the mind will be petrified and

will gradually start obeying you). This is adapted

from the book Meditation by Eknath Eswaran.

with my kind of a mind and will power, i will restart the mala n no.

of times and then give it to the deity to take care with a charming

smile explaining that i am tired.... seriously though i will try it.

maybe it will work.

for sitting on longer durations, i will tell you a tip but please try

it only if you are healthy. jog 15 minutes a day, and before the jap

stand in a cold shower for a minute. no really hot baths. it works for

me.

substance of the book that i mentioned.

i went to a friend of mine telling him about this therapy.

(naturopathy) have a really hot shower, and then a cld one. works

wonders for circulation, and treats all ailments. he told me that is a

really nice therapy you found. at least the first part is very nice.

OK then , avoid hot showers. keep them luke warm. and atleast jog.

The problem with naturopathy and cold showers is that

it works only for people of a specified constitution.

I read a book called Awaken the Giant within by

Anthony Robbins and he suggested a diet that could

make him work continuously for 20 hours a day(living

on vegetables and fruits). A lot of painful

expirimenation told me that this is not good for

Vata-pitta type people like me as are cold showers.

And also the Swatmarama in his Hatha Yoga pradipika

says on the path of yoga one of the things to avoid is

cold water showers in the morning-this may have very

well to do something with his circumstance and his

constitution.

There was query sometime back about loss of memory. So

as not to digress from the purpose of this list, I

would recommend an excellant book by Vasand Lad and

David Frawley called Yoga of Herbs.

> we were talking about will power, and changing

> destiny...

Do you know of the story of the overweight glutton who

wanted to use mindpower to eat more and more food..

therefore I will not to have cold showers:-)
