Very Important Suggestion

Dear gurubhais and gurubehens

Jai Gurudev!

I have a suggestion. SatGuruji was always very keen to revive

interest in our Great country, culture and religion. He wanted to

restore our own pride in ourselves and our land.

 

If that is the case, then why don't we develop at least a website in

Hindi, a great language which is spoken by majority of Gurubhais and

Gurubehens and which is very close to the Greatest Spiritual Language

ever - Sanskrit. Moreover, Hindi is also our National Language and we

should be very proud of it. Why are we so shy of using our own

language? Why do we have to always use the language of the British

who tortured and plundered our Beloved Motherland for nearly 200

years? It is ok that to let the whole world know about SatGuruji's

message, we should have a website in the English language. But why

are we hesitating to create an equally large and well-developed

website in Hindi? This will have the great benefit of increasing and

showing our pride in our own culture and language. Moreover, many

Gurubhais and Gurubehens on this list are not so comfortable with

English anyway, as is evident from the messages that are posted. Just

imagine the tremendous benefit to them in having a comprehensive

website in Hindi, even more extensive and up-to-date than the English

website.

Also, computers and internet are now spreading to all the villages

and towns of India. The villagers should also be made aware of

SatGuruji's message and the only way is to have a website in Hindi

which they can understand. Why are we conspiring to promote the

language of our former rulers? Are we true sons and daughters of

Mother India and true imbibers of SatGuruji's spirit? He created

magazines in both English and Hindi. Similarly there should also be a

website in Hindi.

 

Practically speaking, the Susha Hindi fonts are very easy to use to

create a website in Hindi and are available for downloading on

several websites.

 

I invite other Gurubhai's and Gurubehen's suggestions on this

important issue which we must not neglect.

A great suggestion. Yes, this can be done. Internet Explorer supports

embedded fonts, but not Netscape. In April, we had created a website

at http://www20.brinkster.com/sadhak. This site can easily be

modified to display Hindi content. But the main problem, here, is

content.

Two years ago, PC Quest had distributed Susha fonts and I tried to

create a hindi website using them. But, the result was not so

impressive. Maybe the author has improved them. Where can I find

English website needs to be there along with hindi website because lot of

people don't understand hindi eg south indians and foreigners.

Dear Ashish,

The Susha Hindi font can be downloaded and installed from the

following website:

http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lab/9988/index.htm

This website not only allows one to download the font, but they have

very nice and easy instructions to learn the keyboard layout. I

learnt the layout in 3 hours time since I already was familiar with

the English typing. Moreover, this site also gives instructions on

how Web pages can be created using this font.

 

As for the content problem, that is easily solved. We just need to

translate whatever is there currently on the English website into

Hindi. That would be more than enough for a start. We can add more

content as time goes on. I also have an idea that we can add some

extracts from SatGuruji's numerous Hindi books along with a picture

of the Book cover on the Hindi website to serve as a promotion for

the Hindi books which will be of great help to our Hindi readers.

 

Also, I don't know if this is feasible or not, but it would be nice

if the Hindi website had a good and neat web address rather than

using a free web address. But this will depend on feasibility.

I would need volunteers to translate and type in Hindi. Would you

help?

I am more than willing to help with the translation, since I am free

until June 29. But you will have to tell me what to translate first

so that we can proceed in some order and not overlap etc. Also, let's

get the basic info done first and then proceed to finer and finer

details.

Simple. Close your eyes, imagine Guruji standing in front of you and

pick the first thing that comes in your mind. Let this group know

about it and start working. Meanwhile, I'll create the engine for the

hindi website.
