Guest guest
Dear Arya brothers and sisters It is a very popular saying "Man proposes, but God disposes". At the same time it is an experienced fact that the selfless deeds undertaken for the welfare and upliftment of helpless and needy people, definitely receive the blessings of God. The collective endeavour of Aryas all over the globe to help Tsunami victims of Tamilnadu and Pondicherry is now set on the path and hopefully progress will be visualised in the near future. Since we are communicating on this subject after a long period of gap, therefore it is not out of place to mention the brief history of Arya Samaj relief and Rehabilitation work in Tsunami affected areas of Tamilnadu and Pondicherry. Tsunami waves arose in the Bay of Bengal and strucked the eastern coastal areas of south India, on the fateful morning of 26th December, 2004. S.A.P.S. took up to relief and rehabilitaion work. About 50-60 Arya Samaj volunteers shouldered the responsibility. Despite language problem, we were able to complete the construction of about 250 shelters. In this way we served the victims of 2 villages namely Vannagiri and Kadambadi in Dist. Nagapattinam. At the entrance of these villages, a board displayed by the government still reminds the services of Arya Samaj for Tsunami victims. We had planned to do the Tsunami relief work from two dimensions 1.) I. R (Immediate relief) 2.) L.T.R (Long term rehabilitation) I.R. work was complete within a record time of less than 2 months. We collected about 55 lacs in SAPS for this work. A little less than 20 lacs were spent on I.R. and the remaining about 30 lacs are still lying in SAPS banks. But the cruel anti-national and anti-social minds of Agnivesh and his henchmen attacked the office of SAPS on 28.2.2005 with Police support provided to them illegally at the directions of Communist leaders in India. Due to this criminalization in the apex body of Arya Samaj, this noble divine project was left unattended for quiet a few months. But ultimately as it was the will of God, Shri Shekhar Agarwal from Greater Houston, USA, visited India and had a detailed discussion with us at New Delhi in the month of July. Shri Girish Khosla, Shri Dev Mahajan, Shri Anil Kundra and Shri R.P. Gandhi from USA, also inspired us to carry on the project. Thereafter, we visited Pondicherry and Tamilnadu. Shri Vachonidhi from Gujarat and Dr. Radha Krishan Verma from Karnataka took a keen interest. Consequently, this project is now on the right path. Let us share with you, as to what we have done and what we plan to do in near future. Our last visit to pondicherry witnessed :- A. Receipt of the registered sale deed of 1.68 acres of holy land. This sale deed is in the name of Arya Samaj Gandhi Dham, as planned. We performed Sankalpa Yajna at the house of Shri Sukhveer Arya ji on 9th October, 2005. Dr. Madan Mohan ji, Head of the Dept. of Physiology, JIPMER was also present. B. Execution of the lease deed to have a rented house no 376 Louie Canniya Madaliar Street, Mahaveer Nagar, Lawspet Main Road (opposite Police Station) Pondicherry-8. We have paid Rs. 40.000/- as refundable security and rent has been fixed at Rs 4000/- P.M. (electricity extra) for ground floor. The owner has agreed to give first floor also for additional Rs. 1000/- p.m. from January, 2006 Griha Pravesh Yajna was performed on 11-10-2005. Dr. Madan Mohan and Dr. Surinder Verma with his wife were also present. C. Shri Arya Tapasvi Sukhdev ji has decided to devote the rest of his life for this project. We have deputed one Mr. Sunil Khurana, M.C.A. to work with Tapasvi ji. The salary of Shri Sunil is yet to be finalised. D. They are in need of a car which will be purchased shortly. E. It is a general suggestion by the people that we should name this project as "Maharishi Dayananda Gurukulam" (in the memory of Tsunami) or Maharishi Kulam. My view is "Maharishi Kulam" is a broad concept that includes a place to take care of the helpless children alongwith their education. Whereas Gurukulam means only an institution rendering education. F. Shri Chandran, ADC to the Governor was very happy to hear about our project aimed at welfare and propogation of Vedic principles. He told us that the ancient name of Pondicherry was Vedha Puri or Vedha Puram. We all felt the blessings of God upon hearing this great piece of information. We all have rightly decided to fix up this institution for orphans, poor and needy children in Vedha Puram (now known as Pondicherry). Further Planning : 1 We are planning to initiate daily morning and evening Satsang at the rented house. 2. The following banner is being planned to be displayed at various points in Pondicherry and particularly in Tsunami affected areas of Tamilnadu. 'AUM' ADMISION OPEN To Maharishi Kulam for the children (a) who have lost their mother or father or both (b) whose parents are too poor to take care of them. Guardians/parents may contact 376, Lauie Canniya Mudaliar Street Mahaveer Nagar, Lawspet Main Road (Opp. Police Station) Pondicherry-8 Phone : 093448-44816 3. A Tamil and English knowing man is to be appointed. 4. Architectural design is to be prepared. 5. We will apply to the concerned departments for permission to carry on different activities, eg. Social welfare department, education dept, etc. 6. If we plan and thereafter succeed in constructing boundry wall and a small wing (of course, part of the architectural design) within next one year, then we would be able to shift the activities of our project to the site and rest of the construction activities may continue subject to the needs and availability of funds. 7. We are planning to circulate advertisement in Tamil language in Tsunami affected areas. In this rented house we have a provision to keep around 25 to 50 children. We will have to arrange for their school in the surrounding areas. It is estimated that approximately Rs. 50,000 per month may be the expenditure on food, education and other recurring expenses for the care of children and for office maintenence. 8. In addition to the above, some basic infrastructure is required immediately, for which we may prepare some donors to extend their helping hand. (a) One computer set with printer and other office equipments to facilitate easy communication with administrative agencies. ........... Rs. 2,00,000/- (B) Beddings, clothes and daily use infrastructure for Children Rs 10,000 per children In order to support this Humanitarian Mission you can also join this project as : - Patron : Rs. 24,000 (approximately 600 USD per annum) as its long term Patron for at least one child, minimum for five/ten years. Co-patron : By adopting at least one child by remitting Rs. 12,000 (approx. 300 USD per annum) in advance regularly as Co-patron for one child, minimum for 5/10 years or Show your magnanimity by your maximum possible one time donation & earn the goodwill of these helpless unknown people in distant lands & make your position in God's Empire of Humanity. We should request some other donors also for this purpose. 9. Almighty God has chosen all of you to lit the lamp of Vedic dharma in Tamilnadu with a base at Vedha Puri presently known as Pondicherry. Our activities should not remain limited to the running of Mahrishi Kulam for taking care of the children. We must attempt to inculcate a love for vedic principles in the minds of some of the younsters by regular contact and training at frequent intervels. A separate programme shall be chalked out in the due course. Please give your valuable suggestions to effectively implement this planning. We request you to ponder over this project with a spiritual dimension. More than a social, it is going to be a divine project not only for the helpless children but also for all those who wish for this project to come up. Our desires in life should match the deeds of the Almighty God. In other words, we should desire in tune with the divinity. Therefore, we request you to ensure every possible monetary help for this project. Presently the funds for this project be sent by banker's cheque/pay order drown in the name of Arya Samaj Gandhi Dham, payable at Pondicherry to Sh. Swami Arya Tapasvi Sukhdev ji H.No. 376, Louie Canniya Mudalier Street, Mahaveer Nagar, Lawspet, (Opp. Police Station) Pondicherry-8 (Mobile No. 093448-44816). We hope, with your active participation this project would come up as a spiritual centre of Arya Samaj at Pondicherry (South India). With regards Capt.
