Guest guest
Does Hinduism Have a Future in America? The same question can be asked for Europe. Yes, Hinduism has a future in Europe. I do believe that, together with Buddhism it has a future, maybe the future. Christianity as a whole (Catholics, Protestants, Orthodoxes, Anglicans) is dying very rapidly: churches get empty, priesthood is dying, while no newcomers, in Belgium because of celibacy, but that is not the main reason. In Protestantism where pastors can marry, the "callings" are but few. Catholicism has broken with their past, and that means today, "lack of spirituality". What they call spirituality today, is not "spirituality". You would be surprised, but young people and older one's like me, are looking for spirituality, and are looking towards the East, to Hinduism and Buddhism. I have always been directed to Hinduism, and that thanks to the Bhagavad Gita and meditation. While Christianity is surely dying, but also digging their own grave, Hinduism and Buddhism are well alive. Between brackets, also "Sufism" of Islam, but less because of Islamic extremism. Belgium has a population of 10.000.000 (it's a small country), and there are about 400.000 Muslims. Every year Belgians become Muslims but they are in minority. A lot more people are interested in entering the silence through meditation, and that is found in Hinduism.
