Namsthe,

The relationship of Ambaji and Lord Dattatreya ( D ) can be summarised in a

line. Ambaaji is the only one Existing and the different Godheads of Amba as -

Lords - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva combining as an Avatar is Lord D. So lord D is

Ambaaji.

Lord D in human form, in order to lift the humanity from the veil of maya

codified the rules of Sri Vidya upasana by composing 18,000 shlokas which is

known as " Dattatreya Samhitha." The only reason for this compilation is for the

benefit of humanity and lord D having realised that Sri Vidya or as he calls as

Tripura upasana, encompasses all forms of upasana marga of Sanatana dharma.

Later based on this D - samhitha , Lord Parasurama condensed these 18 K shlokas

to 6000 sutras noted as "Parasurama kalpa sutras" (PKS). Later on one of the

Sishyas known as Sumedhas further condensed it.

PKS -- is divided into 10 Chapters. While the second chapter deals with Maha

Ganapathy Upasana , the rest of the nine Chapters deals with Amba Om upasana.A

well known Mimasaka named Sri Rameshwara Suri has done a popular Bhasyam for

this scripture.

Sri Vidya Navavarana Puja -- Saparya Padathi has parts taken from this Kalpa

sutra.

The shisyas of this Guru Parampara based on the PKS, by name Sri Umananda natha

in the year 1775 has explained the upasana marga in a book which is known as "

Nithyotsavam".

The most well known and the first Upasaka is none other than Lord Parameshwara

Himself and the next to him is Lord Haygreeva followed by Sage Agathya, Lopa

Mudra, Indra, Kubera, Surya, Manmanthra etc.

Lord D's Moola mantra is very potent to take a sri Vidya sadhak to great

heights. The most well known of ALL Dattatreya Paduka Peeta is located at Girnar

in the state of Gujarat, situated on a mountain and is a MUST SEE destination

for all upasakas.

I understand from my Gujrathy friends here that this mountain is difficult to

climb with 6,000 steps. There are other paduka peetams also situated in

Mahrashtra at Kholapur also this is one of the Shakthi peet and in Karnatak

there are few places.

HH Shanthananda Swamyji of Skandashram at Salem belonging to the Avadhutha

Parampara Sanyasins has narrated how Lord D appeared before him as a avadhuta

sanyasin and gave him a fruit when he was left with No Energy to climb the

Girnar Mountain. after taking the friut he was re energised like a teenager to

climb the mountain heights, for a dharshan of Lord D paduka peetam.

One can read the books on the life history of these great Avadhutas and variuos

miracles done by HH Swamyam Prakasha swamygal, the pujya gurudev of HH Shanta

nanada, when he was at Salem. At Bhavaneshwari peetam Where the Avadhuta judge

Swamygal's Adhishtanam is located, from the Year 1952 till date, every year ,

many old Yagnas have been done for the benefit of humanity. This was organised

by HH Shantananda swamygal.

The sanyasins belonging to the heritage of Lord Dattatreya are known as

Avadhutas. As for them the body itself is a luxury and so do not feel the

necessacity to wear clothes and do not Shave. They do not carry a Dhanda or

kamandal .

One of my close friend an upasak tells me that these sanyasins are abundant in

the Cold Himalayan mountains living in freezing temperatures without clothes and

also in Girnar mountains. He futher confirms that at Girnar he has witnessed

these yogies while walking in front of you would suddenly disappear into thin

air.

Shirdi Sai Baba confirms in Sai Charithra HE IS LORD DATTATREYA.

Jai Dattatreya.

Namaskarams to all.

I would like to know the relationship between Ambaa and Sri Dattatreya. I have

heard that he was instrumental in codifying the vidhanams for Sri Vidhya

paddhathi. I would be grateful if the learned of this group provide more

information regarding this. Also, I would like to know if anybody in this group

have details about the Dattatreya temple situated in Hosakerehalli, Bangalore.

Such is our Punya Bhumi, where every dust of earth becomes Holy, due to the

Regret An error of typing in the above para.

The word "Barren" should instead be " Bare " and I owe this mistake to my

barren knowledge.

Maha Swamy's Holy feet ( Soles ) used to have the Shank and Chakra like that of

Maha Vishnu. While this was known to few in the inner circle, it became apparent

in 1920s when Maha Swamy walked bare feet crossing the Kollidam river a

tributary of Kaveri river in trichy.

In each of the step of Maha Swamy on the dry river bed these impressions were so

clearly visible. Looking at this, a sastrigal went running and brought a Paduka

, so that these impressions on the sand would not be trampled by an ignorant.

Such holy soles make our Bhumi a bleseed Bhumi. This has been happening from

time immemorial and would continue to happen. therefore every dust of mother

earth of India is holy.

If one notices the Bhuvaneshwari picture drawn by the Peetam of Pudukottai, one

would notice along with Devi's photo that HH Judge swamy would be clean Shaven

and HH Swamyamprakashar Swamy would be as per Avadhuta Dharma ( Not Shaved and

Naked )and HH Shantananda Swamygal would have clothes but not Shaven.

I was intrigued with this contrast of three Holiness es and the reasons for this

emerged after several years from an elderly person on visit here hailing from

Pudukottai.

HH Judge Swamy while in meditation in the outskirts of a village a miscreant

shaved him fully before it was dawn. HH was not even aware of it and when he

realised this mischance to the Avadhutha Dharma, took it sportingly that this

was also part of the play of the Eternal player Bhuvaneshwari.

HH Swayam Praksha swamygal during his life time faced innumerable problems due

to being Naked from the Villagers though he hardly lived there. In several

places during his casual visits, he was hit with stones, few spat on him etc.

For this reason He called his Prathama shisya HH Shantananda Swamy and

instructed him to wear clothes, as the sishya had to work for certain projects

involving the Public.

Incidentally the Guru Dev of HH Chidananda the great soul who reestablished Sri

Vidya in south, HH Guhananada Swamygal was also an Avdhuta.
