In the Bhavani Nama sahasra Stuthi we find the namavalis such as -- Sattviki

Swaha - Rajasi Swaha --Tamasi Swaha -- Gunatraya vibhavivini Swaha to praise

Bhavani mathajee.

 

 

 

Focussing on the meaning of these sthuthies would reveal that EVIL IS PART OF

DEVI"S CREATTION AS GOOD.

 

 

 

Gunatraya Vibhavini

 

 

 

The constituent qualities or nature of all materials manifested by Devi are of 3

kinds.

 

 

 

Sattvic : several meanings like beingness,quality of goodness ,virtuous,

genuine, real , the principle of purity can be used to describe the word Sattvic

The primodial mother -- PRAKRTI displays all kinds of goodness in her graceful

performance in the manifestation. The goodness is Her natural character and is

the very being of clear Consciousness and not a trace of selfishness prevails in

that state and this is the nature of TRUE SELF.

 

It is represnted by white colour. --- predominant in Jivan Mukthas and gods.

 

 

 

Rajasic : This is represented as Red -- the colour of the Kumkuma - the quality

or nature that can be described as vigorous activities or passion as found in

most of the human beings. The mother is the form of Shakthi in all sorts of

passionate action, which is an emanation of intellect. Ego in action covers the

very spirit of passion.this is because such men ignore the predominant

transcendence and maya plays its part and to such men mother does not reveal

herself.

 

 

 

Thamasic : this is one of the three primal qualities which is recognised as

ignorance or darkness and is represented by black colour. This is inertia

predominating in demons. This inertia persists because of ignorance. The reality

of devi covers itself with darkness among the ignorant. Devi is full with anti

divine qualities to deal with anti divine forces , as it is the cosmic law that

the wicked should be dealt with wickedness. We see this in the divine scripture

of Devi Mahatmeeyam how Devi tackles the neagativities and darkness of asuras

like the chanda munda, raktha beejans etc. either you can take these demonic

forces as physically or as a personification of the mental thoughts.

 

 

 

 

 

WHY EVIL EXISTS.

 

 

 

Prakrti is the original source of these three materials. The natural disposition

of these three qualities is in perfect harmony in the primodial mother who is

about to shuffle out as the manifestation.

 

 

 

The thamas which exists in human being as murders,robberies and other terrible

happenings arising out of hate, greed ,anger etc are allowed to happen by Devi

only to show or reveal the contrast or the opposite nature -- GOODNESS. Men

could never have experienced goodness ,if evil had not been created in the

first place. It is hard to know the dividing line between good and evil if one

is ignorant.

 

 

 

When you attempt to see the imperfection of the world clearly you would begin to

see the perfection of Devi. So one can take Evil as the test of Devi to choose

her or the evil with the power and discrimination available to you ---- the

FREE WILL. This can be compared to an appreciation of a hero's role only when

the villain does his job as in a film. Suppose if we presume that if a film

misses all the action only with all goodness of a hero without a villain -- how

would this be !!!

 

 

 

Love and the strength to forgive are the satvic weapons which men have to

counter even the worst enemy and this quality is comes from attunement to DEVI.

 

 

 

The present war is due to the Absence of recognising this divine quality. This

is again a motion picture, which we see on our TV screens but live. From age to

age ,from civilization to civilization the same old movie repeats with the only

difference -- of different characters playing their parts. Again this is perfect

because it is Devi's supreme will ( Jai Kali ).
