Guest guest
Namaste, The hymn 'sarasvatii stuti' has references to " seated on a white lotus, holding a white lotus in her hand, wearing garlands of white flowers," which would imply a the lotus being Her favorite flower, and any other white flowers would equally please Her. Guest guest
Hi, I would just like to share a personal experience. There is a popular Durga temple in my country where devotees will offer lemons, and ghee-filled lemon skins with a cotton wig lighted, to Mother Durga. It is said that devotees wishes are fulfilled when one offers lemons to mother durga for 9 weeks and I know many devotees including my parents who had their wishes fulfilled. So on one of the visits to the temple, I asked Mother Durga in my mind: "Mother, being Parashakti, why do you still have preferences and why is it that you get pleased when one offers you lemons and specific flowers as mentioned in the scriptures. Does that mean that if I don't do this, and don't offer lemons to you, I would not be able to appease and please you and get my wishes fulfilled?" Mother Durga answered the following to me: "Beloved Son, many are still in the big illusion of materialism and they like to categorise. If you think that it is the lemons and the flowers which appease me, you are wrong my Son. I never take the lemons or flowers. I only take the LOVE and DEVOTION with which you offer them to me. So offer me ANYTHING at all with love and devotion and I take it. I am not particular. Same with my consort Shiva, who only takes the LOVE with which you offer Him Bilva Leaves. The reason why the devotees' wishes are fulfilled is that they get so charged up doing up the lemons and filling the ghee that the lemons automatically become charged up with Devotion and Love. The devotees know that Mother will grant them their wishes so they do the offering with so much love and devotion. And it DOES help to charge up your love and devotion when you use objects such as leaves, and flowers and lemons. Because Humans are very much still "object-oriented". Therefore, unknowingly, the devotees are offering me not lemons, but love and devotion. The lemons are used as tools to help them express their sincere devotion and unconditional love. And I take their love and grant them their wishes. So my son, remember this, OBJECTS don't please me. What pleases me is only sincere devotion and love. Remember that always my son. And not everyone in the world may be rich enough to offer me flowers and lemons. How about the very poor people of India? So does that mean that their wishes go ungranted son? Never! It is Love and Devotion that matters most to the Divine and nothing else." Aum Durgayei Namah. Aum Shivaya Namah. Namaste. ___ > Om Sri Gurubyo Namaha > > Dear Devotees: > > I am somewhat familiar with color preferences, etc for > Ma Saraswati, however, I am having trouble finding > which flowers she prefers.
