Guest guest Report post Posted November 2, 1999 I live in Germany and "try" to practise Asthanga Vinyasa Yoga for about 1 1/2 years now.
As there are very few teachers in Germany I have to practise on my own most of the time. Because I have two children it's difficult to go to the USA,
UK or India to learn. Besides there aren't so many workshops in Germany with teachers from abroad because there still is not enough interest. It is difficult to find more than 20 people for a workshop.
Has anyone hints on planned workshops in Germany or middle Europe ?
How can I motivate myself to go on on my own ? Guest guest Report post Posted November 2, 1999 I found it hard when I first came to Germany after practicing astanga for nearly three years in England. There was no astanga teacher in Munich until the last couple of months, so I went to iynegar and sivananda classes and just did astanga practice on my own. Hard to stay motivated without sometimes having the group energy, though.
Where do you live? There are a few astanga teachers in Germany now. Bettina Anner teaches in Munich - 089 271 2905.
There are also a couple of websites with directories of astanga teachers:
http://www.yoga.co.uk/list.html http://www.transarc.com/~jle/yoga.html#Germany
There are teachers listed in Frankfurt, Bodensee, Hamburg and Zurich. I don't know any of these people but a couple of friends of mine know Hari Gaertner in Frankfurt and say he is very good.
Lino Miele also does workshops in Munich a couple of times a year. Email if you'd like more information - alan.little
