Guest guest Report post Posted September 23, 1999 Hello,

I have just moved into a new apt. and unfortunately it is carpeted. My previous apt. had wood floors which were ideal for my ashtanga practice. With the carpet I have problems balancing, etc. If anyone has any solutions for this problem I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks
Guest guest Report post Posted September 24, 1999 Hi there--

I faced some similar problems in my new house. The entire house is carpeted except for the kitchen and a small foyer. So I restrict my practice to the foyer and hope that my housemate won't open the door and knock me over.

Perhaps you could go to the kitchen or bathroom for your standing balance postures.

The other possiblity is that you continue your practice on the carpet. It is more difficult, but it will result in your having stronger ankles and a greater sense of balance in the long run.

Hope this helps,
Ami
