Kochu thanks for the perfect counsel: Take refuge in the Mother's

feet, it makes the devatas serve.

Another mantra Om Aim Hrim Klim Chamundaye Vicche

calling on Chamunda for help against demonic forces

and there is another mantra vibhedini specifically toward breaking

negative spells. I'm trying to look it up now in Chandi Paath, and

find this:

"It annihilates the strength of evildoers, and its recitation

destroys demons, ghosts and ungodly spirits." 12.19

Ah here it is, s'appodhaara mantra. But though it's in my volume of

Chandi Paath (Devi Mandir edition), it is apparently not actually

part of Durga Saptasati.

I won't give the whole thing, it should be easy for you to find.

First mantra is

Om Hrim Klim S'rim Kraam Kriim Chandikaa Devyai

S'aapanaas'aanugraham kuru kur svaahaa

(it says repeat 11 times)

and others follow.

Vir, many blessings to cleanse these influences. A chance to do some

major washing, as Hafiz says of suffering, "and i am often drenched

and dripping..."

All you have to do is chant the Lalitha Sahasranamam or the Khadgamala,

remembering the fierce aspect of Maa called Varahi. The evil will rebound back

& wreak havoc on its source. I have also even seen this to be true when people

slight or offend Sri Vidya Upasakas in some ways.

It is for this reason that these Sri Vidya Sadhanas should not ever be done by

people who cannot control their anger, as anger from the upasaka can even

unintentionally harm someone. Maa takes her devotees very seriously.

The shaapoddhaara mantra you quoted is for unlocking the potential energy of

Chandi Paath. It is believed rishis have locked up the power of Chandi Paath

against possible misuse. Hence in any traditional prayoga of Chandi Paath, we

recite shaapoddhaara mantras before actual recital Chandi paath. Mere recitation

of Chandi paath without the necessary prefixes and suffixes may not yield fruit

is the traditionally held view.

Of course you may use this mantra with certain changes specifying what kind of

curse you want lifted and also come up with properly worded sankalpa. I m only

talking of traditional view point. This is not an advice. Consult any expert in

mantra shastra.

Dear Ralph and all,

Now one should please apply some caution with so called spell breaking

and use of mantras. In my experience in 90 % of the cases of people

suffering from curses there actually is no curse but something else is

the problem, most often wrong application of (kundalini) Yoga and other

advanced Meditations, and believe me i have a lot of experience because

people used to drop in constantly at my place asking for help adgainst

curses because i had some kind of reputation to be able to deal with

that sort of stuff, and part of my job is selling special protective

and other "magical" and herbal compounds.

Let us assume for one instant that your friend is not under the

influence of a curse but has some other mental problem, in that very

moment if he uses these mantras or practices and only think for an

instant that the Nath or Aghor is the cause of the problem he sort of

aims an attack against an innocent Nath or Aghor Guru.

I will not go into the specifics what can happen (automatically without

any conscious action of the Guru) if one tries to aim an attack against

a Nath or Aghor who is innocent of any evil and maybe even serving your

spiritual needs.

I am surprised that nobody has recommended jnana as the best spell relief. If

someone was to ask Raman Maharishi about surses and spells I wonder what he

might have said. Where is the curser, where is the cursed? Can someone find any

spell there? Where is there? What thing in existance is not the very mantra of

the unexistent? So if curses there be they be curses of the unexistent as well.

know that that know that that know know - this is your curse breaking mantra.

Dear JR and Max and all,

Jai MAA!

I couldn't agree with your wise counsel and that of all others that the best

thing to do is

surrender to the Eternal Feet of our Divine Mother -- all manner of distress -

mental,

material, spiritual will be eased. We can use Her mantras to seek Her help to do

so....You

have spoken of the Shapoddhara Mantrah from Chandi Path and in addition to this

there

are some other mantras that can be used.

(a) Shapavimochana Mantra -- The mantra that removes the curse

Om Shrim Shrim Klim hum om Aim ksobhaya kshobhaya mohaya utkilaya utkilaya tham

tham

It can be repeated 11 times.

(b) Atha Brahmadi Shapa vimocanam (The removal of the Curses of Brahma and

others) --

this slokham can be recited too. -- "Its purpose is the attainment of all

imperishable

qualities, Durga is the diety...it can be applied to remove curses..."

© Devi Kavacham -- A beautiful way to begin our surrender and have Divine

Mother's

protection is to recite the Devi Kavacham (Armor of the Goddess) each morning -

when we

recite it, we are wearing the armor and the promise of this recitation is

complete

protection by Divine Mother -- against all types of maladies (verses 48 - 52)

arising from

natural causes, spritits, goblins etc.

(d) Kilakam -- Reciting this frees the reciter from fear and fills life with

blessings

(e) The entire Chandi Path -- As you had mentioned, Max - in Chapter 12, Divine

Mother

promises that if we make a recitation or even listen to the Chandi we will be

protected

from all problems -- AND She will reside with us!!!

Thank you and hope this is of some help!

Jai Jagadambe Mata!

Dear Ralph and other folks,

My 2 cents

"Aiem Hreem Kleem Chaimunai Viccheey"

Is navarn mantra. The good part about this mantra is that it have been

brought into existance by Devi Herself hence you dont have to say thanks to

any one else (like for famous Gayatri mantra you should say it to Rishi

Vishwamitra). Also it invokes

Aiem - Mother Saraswati

Hreem - Mother Bhuvaneshwari

Kleem - Mother Kali

all 3 forms. Its wonderful. The power of this mantra is immense. My mataji

has felt it herself. It might take sometime to generate energy. Navaratri

days (going on right now) are the best time for this mantra.

Gayatri Mantra.

The power is immense too. I have felt it myself. Can always work as an

armour or anything else you intend it to be.

How ever if you are looking for a quicker relief, may I suggest Goddess

BagulaMukhi. She is considered to bring fear to your worst enemies. It

should not used (at least thats what I think) for minor issue .. :) If

brings relief very quickly. While you might not have time to do a completel

sadhan, there is something called as BagulaMukhi Mala Mantra. Some chantings

a day (as its a bit big one) have known to do wonders. If you need it then

please let me know.

I hope this helps more then to create confusion...

Thanks

Dp

PS I would like to say that your last name (Natraj) brings joy to me.

Very good recommendations. What could be better than cutting off ones own head

and offering it to the Mother?

Let Ma deal with it.

Don´t forget they are talking about their own Guru. To aim a

could cause your instant death.

Exactly right, Mahahrada.

Moreover, it is good for non-kaula not to even think of Bagala and similar

Vidyas.

But U know, "vinAsha kAle viparIta buddhiH"... Hope this is not the case :)

Holy Cow.. I missed that part. To go against your guru can be very

complex... Heck I have never even though about it for a second. Even the

idea of going aginst your own guru means you are accumulating "sin". Now you

should go against your guru only and only if you have realised that he/she

is on a **wrong** path. And that too you should not go against, but just

leave him/her.

But be very careful its not as easy as it sounds (ie to find is someone is

right or wrong). One of the greatest analogies given for that is that of a

dream.

When ever I had a dream I never know what I am going throuth is a dream.

Till I am in a dream its seems all real. Its only once I wake up that I know

it was a dream. Whether you are right or wrong can also be sometimes like

that. Hence be very careful, and I am laying emphasis on word very.

Also I would say dont aim it at anyone. Its just to save yourself. I never

do it to destroy anyone, but to protect myself. There is a suttle difference

between that. That is, and should be fine by all logic. You prayer should be

"o mother protect me from anyone and every who is trying to hurt me." and

not to hurt anyone else. Any Sadhans / Prayog (eg ucchatan) should not be

done against anyone else. Its puts you to a direct route to hell. That makes

death suddenly a much easier thing.

But before anything else, you should talk to your master and ask that why do

you have bad feeling like this. If he/she is a real master, then will not be

upset at all and soon everything will be allright. After all he/she is your

master. When you hurt, your guru feels the pain. Hence I would say that dont

harbour this though at all unless it is the case. Its makes it like a

chicken and egg scenario I would advise you to use extreme caution. It could

be your test too?

Hope I was able to convey my point ...

Thanks and Regards

My dear DP,

Please can you share the Baguala Mala Mantra.

Thank you very much,

Thanks

PS I would like to say that your last name (Natraj) brings joy to me.

There are Mantras and Mantras. It is like there being all sorts of arms to

fight. There are air guns which are almost toys, yet can be deadly if used

carelessly. Then there are Guns rockets etc. The there are the very Nukes.

The other weapons are not all that well protected, with a general knowledge

they can be used. Of course not being trained can cause them to explode in the

face.

The nukes cannot be launched except with long and complicated launch

protocols.

Same is the case with mantras.

Mantras can be recited with the idea of Protect me and help me as the

intentions without much problem. The moment specific intents are brought forth

it becomes another ball game altogether. In other words a nishkama japa enhances

your practices and protects you. When it becomes sakama (with specific intent)

all the rules and regulations have to be followed to the letter. And for this

one needs specific initiations from realized people. They will tell you what can

be done and what cannot be.

The reason Mantras are given openly is with the locks and safety valves they

can be a tool for one's progress. But the keys are kept back. If people start

giving keys that one has read in books, there is a fair chance that either the

key will not fit or you will not find the keyhole. But in rare cases one will

hit the nail in the head by accident. In such cases the results just cannot be

predicted.

So why not we keep to generalities and leave the rest for 1 to 1 interaction

between Master and student? The texts are replete with warnings on the use of

books ALONE for practices.

Ganpra wanted this posted. he seems to have some problem.

Here is what he says

DP,

There is a typo in the Chamunda mantra.

Looking at this typo in a different perspective, is it possible that SHE does

not want it to be shared so freely?

I apologize to sound patronizing or to speak from a high pedestal, moola

mantras are there for the purpose of "personal salvation" as one might call it.

Prayogam to actively engage in conflict is what might be called a "corollary."

Not for everyone to attempt it.

I have a close friend who is going through a difficult time for the last few

years. All I have told them repeatedly is to chant LSN.

While it is often stated that LSN needs initiation, but, if a child calls for

mother, will the mother not come to the child's aid?

While a moola mantra takes around 15-30 minutes for a 108 japa, LSN in its

full (Poorva baga, LSN and Utra baga) takes only 45 minutes to an hour.

LSN done with proper sankalpa is also a prayer. Meaning, there is more

leniency in chanting. A child learning to speak will be taught how to say the

words (HER names) correctly, rather than a scientist trying to unravel issues of

quantum physics using a sophiticated equation (moola mantra prayogam). A

scientist will be evaluated and judged at the standards of his/her peers, while

a child will be taught to learn the nuances of languages by his/her MOTHER.

MOTHER will also protect the child for the simple fact that the latter has no

defense of its own. While taking the course of moola mantra prayogam, one

assumes the position of telling HER what to do. What if the one doing the

prayogam on the other side is a better "Scientist," who is better versed in a

prayogam?

Apart from the above, in utra baga of LSN, there are several results

attributed to LSN, the ones which SHE will grant the devotee. One of them is "If

a person casts an evil eye, Marthanda Bhairava himself will blind the person."

While it might not be eye for an eye, LSN will distract the particular person's

attention so that (s)he will be too occupied to think about HER devotee.

May be some people here in this thread might like to see it as eye for an eye

and might be disappointed as a result and disillusioned with LSN!! :-)

In the sloka(s) before the above (may be Kochu can correct me if I am wrong),

it is said that any dhur prayogam directed on the chanted of LSN will be

reflected back on the one who started it all.

Just pray with LSN or any mantra you have been initiated into. Pray for your

spiritual/mental/worldy well being and those of your loved ones (in a

sankalpam). Those are the easily allowed prayogams, less cumbersome to practice.

A Tigress protecting HER cubs is more ferocious than attacking to claim

territory!! ;-) Actions arising out of Love from heart is more powerful than

those from worldly wants. Even for HER.

If SHE is with you, who can be against you?? Just give it a thought!

Dearest Kochu,

This is the first time I have heard these - Poorva baga, LSN and Utra baga, and

as they are t do with Devi, I will be very grateful if you could please tell me

the full form of LSN and al;so what are meant by poorva and utra baga.

After reading all these posts on Mantras, I have actually lost my appetite for

all that fancy foot-work, because it appears also to me that this gyan marg has

immense potential to corrupt the mind of the practationer if he or she is not

"purified", leaving them with some "weapons" with with to wreck havoc.

Some of those who post here, as Nora mentioned in response to Tarinis post,

follow the Nath and Aghora paths. These paths fascinated me, specially Aghore

as I liked the devotion for Tara that Vimalnanda showed in the Aghora series, a

too the love for Kali shared by Amarananda Bhairavan in his Kali's Oddiya.

The way I see it is that if one had a physical mentor.guru, then these paths -

Tantra - make sense, else I would say avoid any mantra, be it as simple as Hari

Om, because one then paves the way to open pandora's box; a we have all seen in

these posts, where some compasionate souls have been kind enough to warn us.

I am truly scared. If some advanced "yogis" a yourselves have been dishing out

mantras, albeit with good intentions, and others offer caution, the gyan marg is

truly scary for me.

The only reason I am attracted to Aghora/Tantra/Nath (I dnt know aanything about

the nath trqadition but as it is a part of Tantra mention it), as well as

curious what LSN, etc mean is because I wanted to know my sweet Kaali more. But

now I don't seem to know anything.

I dont know what she has these paths which can supposedly lead one direct to

her, and yet leave it with the potential to loose her completely - or at least

till the pralaya or worse still the Mahapralaya, like playing Russian roulette.

I think it is really mean of her to show love and then take it away !

Tantra - make sense, else I would say avoid any mantra, be it as simple as Hari

Om, because one then paves the way to open pandora's box; a we have all seen in

these posts, where some compasionate souls have been kind enough to warn us. è I

agree

I am truly scared. If some advanced "yogis" a yourselves have been dishing out

mantras, albeit with good intentions, and others offer caution, the gyan marg is

truly scary for me. è *smile*

The only reason I am attracted to Aghora/Tantra/Nath (I dnt know aanything about

the nath trqadition but as it is a part of Tantra mention it), as well as

curious what LSN, etc mean is because I wanted to know my sweet Kaali more. But

now I don't seem to know anything. è LSN also used to be cautioned against but

saints like Amritanadamayi (Amma) has removed the ban. So now it is safe.

I dont know what she has these paths which can supposedly lead one direct to

her, and yet leave it with the potential to loose her completely - or at least

till the pralaya or worse still the Mahapralaya, like playing Russian roulette.

I think it is really mean of her to show love and then take it away ! è be rest

assured SHE will guide when needed. Be of pure heart and no ill will to anyone

and SHE will guide. Worry not.

as I liked the devotion for Tara that Vimalnanda showed in the Aghora series, a

too the love for Kali shared by Amarananda Bhairavan in his Kali's Oddiya.

to have some problem.

-----Very fascinating indeed! Haha

If you really wish to see the Mother Everywhere. Otherwise, for true

conservatives such knowledge can really rip one's mind apart. It's true. Guard

your mind.

Aghoris and Naths, why compare them in the same breath? Naths, a dime a dozen

homemade pretenders nowadays, Aghoris.... not!!!

The way I see it is that if one had a physical mentor.guru, then these paths -

------Hmmmm. Physical mentor. Hmmmmm. Yes, I can see that. Though I never

much had one, which is why I asked MahaKali to be my love.

I am truly scared. If some advanced "yogis" a yourselves have been dishing out

-----So she has handed you your head? Congratulations.

In tantra, ignorance, is ones nature, and it is the source of enlightenment.

Especially with Mahakali. If you can learn to cut through all thought, all hope

and all fear, then you may place your face against her bare breast.

I dont know what she has these paths which can supposedly lead one direct to

her, and yet leave it with the potential to loose her completely - or at least

-----I don't really know what you mean. Mahakali leave Her devotees? How could

that happen? She is everything, with no remainder. There is nothing to leave.

-----Do you think it's mean for the Mother to play with you? And you say you

love Her?

-----I have a message from Ma to you -

"Don't worry about these showy yogis and their siddhis and prayogas. Maybe I let

my beloved play around a little and give them room for some fun. If you want to

be with me all you have to do is simply give up. I'll take care of you."

------This last, a breath wheezed through one faulty mouthpiece. Thank You Ma.

Thank You Ma

There's always You.

May all be happy.

Dear Vir,

I sincerely apologies as I will not be able to give it now.

Even though my original intent was to help someone in distress but it seems

like I have done damage instead construction.

I cant stop myself from helping someone who needs help, no matter who he/she

is. Also I assume that every one else will/should take all the precautions

in using any of the these things, as I would do, but it seems like its not

the case.

Already I consider myself responsible for starting this huge argument (at

least thats what I think) by talking the name of Bagulamukhi, and I have no

clue what to do to stop it.. :(

To everyone, please accept my sincere apologies. As usual I shall sit in

back seat and be a good listener / learner.

Thanks and Regards

Dp

Do not worry on Shri Bagalamukhi's account :) From someone who teaches Her

sadhana I will let you off the hook lightly. Do not worry.

Or May be because I dont know how to type samskrit in english. Not saying

this because of my ego which wants to say that "I" know this mantra. Just

saying to put a different point of view. Off course SHE not wanting me to do

this will not be acceptable.

If SHE didnt wanted this to happen she has much better ways to do this, and

this I say not because of a thought/viewpoint/perspective, but from

experiance. For ex when someone did a maran proyog on me, she went to all

the extent needed ,to make sure that it doesnt happens.

While I am very open to your idea why there was a typo, I will still put my

bet on "that I dont know how to type samskrit in english." :) :) :)
