In practice the order is reverse. or there are four parts [Khandas] in the SrividyAmantra called respectively, Agni, SUrya, Soma and CandrakalA, also called VAgbhava, KamarAja, Sakti and Turiya [kUtas]. Among these four there are three hrllekhAs [hrims] these are called "knots" and named respectively, Brahma, Visnu and Rudra-granthis. Severing means penetrating into. Really speaking these six [cakras] signify the roots or origins [of the universe] as said in the fourth chapter of the DattAtreya- samhitA. "MUlAdhAra and the other five cakras are together called Kula; there are three knots among them, these three are called Devi- cakras. The earth [and water] cakras are indicated by the Brahmagranthi. The next two powerful and shinnning cakras are fire and sunl these two are indicated by the Vishnugranth; this shinning one confers all the siddhis. The next two cakras in the form of air and ether are indicated by the Rudragranthi, the seat of mighty benefits." BhAskararAya's Commentary Translated into English by R. Ananthakrishna Sastry.
