I'm tired of everyone picking on America

Ok, I cringe at the thought of another four years of Bush.

I nver liked the man. I never got over it. He's an idiot.

I'm an American and I know I did not vote for Bush but I know some who

did.

They are not idiots. They are not happy with the options. No, I do

not agree with their choices, but why is everyone so self righteous about

America?

We're not perfect like any country.

Every country has it's share of troubles.

Every country has had it's share of stupid leaders.

I'm surprised Any body Wants to lead Any country, let alone America,

in this day and age, would YOU want the job.

America's not perfect. She makes mistakes. She's growing and

learning like everyone on the planet. I live here and I can see some of her

glaring

flaws.

Americans are good people.

They care about people in the world -- most of them.

They work hard.

Ok, I have some gripes about the way things are, but let's face it, maybe

having Bush for president will give the rest of the world the opportunity to

see America for who she is and what she is -- just humans like the rest of the

world. You think America is alone in being populated with racist, classist,

people? Every country has those who are rude and those who are generous and

understanding. Every country has somebody who will torch his wife, or cut her

body up and bury it in the backyard. America is just people -- I don't know

why we have so much money in America, cuz I SHURE DON'T HAVE ANY OF IT and i'm

not even trying to get some of it.

I know some of the people who voted for Bush and I don't agree with that

choice but some of the people I know who did are some of the finest people I

know. They don't agree with the war in Iraq and think it is a stupid war, but

now that it's happened they just don't trust Kerry or maybe they think Bush

deserves to have to clean up the mess himself, and MAYBE HE DOES

Namaste,

namasivayam if you are as enlightened as you put yourself out to be. you would

know that all is siva's will and that siva exsists within all that exsists and

that siva is indeed the atom within the atom! as siva is also within George W

Bush, as siva is also within you and me and everyone else and everything else.

and we should try to remember that there is NO intrinsic Evil for all is good

and all is siva's will! Aum Namah Sivaya!

All is part of the same creation sure, but you cannot take this idea too far

and say that everything should be tolerated and injustices should not be

fought against.

Devi makes lions and posionous serpents, but I certainly do not want to play

with them! There may be no "intinisic" absolute good or evil in this world,

but in the relative sense for each individual there are things that would appear

to be as such.

Things that would harm you in any way, or keep you from following your own

Dharma would be evil to you, the things that help you along could be seen as

good.

Yes, I'm sure that is true.

As the Devi Mahatmya says, the worshipful power called shakti is

sarvabhuteshu -- present in all beings, including Republicans.

Do you think it might be equally true that there are good, caring,

hardworking people in every country, and of every political

persuasion? Including Iraqi nationalists who object to the American

presence in their country?

Of course. The problem with Americans is that most of

them pay little attention to what their country does

in other countries. They believe what their leaders

tell them and have no knowledge of what is really

happening. Thus if you want to accuse them of

negligence in not taking proper supervision over their

elected leaders, fine, but accusing them of visciously

wanting to destroy the lives of ordinary Iraqi

citizens, no, this is inaccurate and unfair.

The tendency to be ignorant and to ignore what happens in other

countries, even what is done by our government, is as old as our

republic. These days, with jerrymandered districts, only a tiny

minority of any legeslative seats are really up for election in the

US; all the others are safe. (Jerrymandering is redrawing voting

district boundaries to ensure desired election results.) For this

reason, voting participation has been declining in the US for a long

time - until the last election, when more people voted, but still it

didn't much matter (most seats were safe).

Most Americans who can vote actually feel powerless; and our current

head of state doesn't pay much attention to international OR

domestic law, or to the legislature, when he wants something; he

just does it.

The strong economic trend in the US is for the VERY rich to get

richer, and the poor and middle class to get poorer. That's also

very distracting, people focus on maintaining quality of life as

best they can, and tune out their near and far neighbors.

Meanwhile, the agenda of the far and religious right seems to be

this administration priority - and the goal is to redefine the US as

a Christian nation, with Christian very narrowly defined.

good thing I'm registered with the Green Party ;-)

As for people in other countries being good, careing and hardworking,

including Iraqui's who object to American Presense, of course I agree with you.

I myself object to the American presence in their country.

Are you truly so naive as to think that citizens of other countries are any

less gullible to their governments' propaganda? LOL !!! You think Americans

are alone in this?

You think people in other countries are not led along by their noses and when

their government says jump, they jump, and how high?

Please point us Americans to where we may find this accurate information of

what is happening, and please explain the psychology of the human mind to me,

that leads you to the belief that Americans alone are subject to dumb herd

mentality.

As for accurate information, the Iraqui information ministers are in no hurry

to take the blindfolds off their own people's eyes as well. Not that this

makes it ok for America to invade Iraqu. But to turn the U.S.A. into a lone

sinister force, unique in it's evil ways among a world of innocent good doers in

other countries all of whom have "correct" information and are all well

informed and not simply following the same kind of dumb herd menatlity, is

beyond

naive. It's the same kind of scape-goating mentality the leads some people to

think it was a good IDEA to invade Irqau

Let me ask you a personal question: in between earning aliving and trying to

support your family if you have one, how much time and resources do YOU have

to spend doing the intensive research that would be required to make yourself

un-ignorant -- the kind of resources that would be required to change the way

things are.

First, you would have to tackle big media. That's just one item of concern.

My husband was questioned by the CIA, back in college, for sending a letter

of complaint about what was going on during the Watergate mess and the Nixon

hearings. He's nobody. Who are you, one individual, to stand up to yoru

government, assuming you have the resources to make yourself aware, in between

having a job and trying to survive.

Sadly, what you say may be especially true of politicians...

Most people are assholes, they just put up a friendly false face.

This is also confirmed by the fact that the history has been dominated

by the worst diabolical outrages.

Hmm. Well I listen to National Public Radio (which is actually a

channel independent as it can be from government or advertizers'

control) for perhaps 2 hours a day, most days. I watch a news show

for another hour a day, most days of the week. I catch the hot news

items on the web, perhaps .5 hours most evenings. Before every

election I spend 2-3 hours, over about a week, researching any

propositions or obscure candidates on the ballot. And every once in

a while, an issue grabs me, and I research it, talk with friends

about it, post about it, and in the past, have marched or otherwise

engage in peaceful demonstrations.

I ignore most of the big media, except on issues of concern to me;

it just deadens me.

Who am I? The only one responsible for my life, my time, my soul. So

occasionally, I am the voice or hands or ears of the Goddess

herself. But always just myself, the self I choose, the self I make.
