I'm very far from being anywhere near an expert on this topic, but my basic understanding is that yantra is the visual form of worship as in geometric designs and patterns that lead one into meditative oneness with the Cosmic Vibration of the Goddess, while Mantra does this through word and sound vibrations, and tantra -- hmmm still trying to understand that one -- i'll have to guess that tantra works more through the body and the Kundalini. I'm sure others will jump in and elaborate and correct me, as I am a beginner in trying to understand these things and others are much more advanced! Guest guest Report post Posted October 30, 2004 93 Mantra is manifestation of Shakti as Matrika or Vak. In the highest sense of the word, mantra is Logos, Word of God. Then, mantra is particular "formula" of specific aspect of that Shakti. Mantra is the karana-sharira ("soul") of each devata. BTW it is Matrika-shakti who is named "Kundalini" . Yantra is manifestation of Shakti as visual, geometric form (aka mandala). It is the sukshma-sharira of each devata. Also "yantra" means "instrument, device". Tantra is the path in which mantra and yantra are used in order to realise the union with that Shakti who is beyond mantra and yantra.
