I have received almost a dozen requests, on-list and off, to cast

listmembers' horoscopes and interpret what their Ishtadevata (chosen

deity) is.

In my original post, I only offered this service to Mary Ann. And she is

not sure of her birth time -- necessary to calculate the Lagna or

ascendant. I am, ostensibly, a professional astrologer (although I've

grown a bit rusty). I am also now handicapped and on a very restricted

budget. When I trained, astrologers did all their calculations by hand;

a familiarity with logarhythmic tables, ephemerides, and degrees of

latitude and longitude were essential. And it took a couple of hours to

do all the math.

Nowadays, of course, computers take over much of that work. But I am

poor (alledgedly a common problem of Sarasvati devotees), and do not have

an astrology program. On the rare occasions when have a client, I buy a

chart printed from an astrology bookstore in the city. I do not have the

money, time, or inclination to run off a dozen such charts and pay for

them, to satisfy the curiousity of my fellow Shakti Sadhakas. So...

A. If any of you out there know of a way I can get a decent Vedic

astrology program, for free, shareware, or cheap, please enlighten me.

B. Those of you who have your Vedic charts already done, if you provide

me with the Lagna (ascendant), any planets in the Fifth House, and

location of the rulers of the ascendant and Fifth House, I can attempt to

interpret you Ishtadevata for you, and give you a Gayatri mantra to

invoke Her/Him.

C. Members who can suggest free or cheap resources to have a Vedic

chart cast, should contact their fellow Sadhakas.

D. If you want to contact me off-list (please put <OFFLIST -- Chosen

Deity> in the Subject line), we can negotiate a fair remuneration for my

time and expense to have a Vedic chart cast for you and snail mailed. I

am only offering to interpret your Ishtadevata, NOT to do an entire life

reading!

This offer to be withdrawn the moment it becomes burdensome.

Thank you.
