OM KRIM KALI MA!

A few, hopefully brief, thoughts.

First, for Sudha. We here have had you in our thoughts at Puja, as have

also many other members of this group. Sometimes, such thoughts and

feelings from relatively detached people can be more beneficial than the

oft-enturbled stream of emotion among those who are closely connected.

In any case, Ma is always with you, even, as was said a couple of days ago,

when you think you can't find Her. The guru-chela relationship (if you

choose to call it that) is always intense, and when stronger atttachments

supervene, it becomes even more difficult to deal with equitably (as well as

more confusing).

Also, sometimes leaving a religion or religious group can be just as

meaningful and significant (and positive) as joining one, if the religion or

group wasn't right for you or otherwise meeting your perceived needs. Some

relationships of this sort find their true meaning after their ending. Even

some marriages only take on their true contours (in the householder sense)

after their termination. Perhaps we are devotees of Ma precisely because we

understand this truth and its meaning. To mediate on Smashanakalika, or the

burning ghats, helps me to understand this.

At any rate, people on this list have been thinking positively of and for

you.

And I feel that I have to say that, IMO, this list _is_ a beautiful and

somehow special one. That's the opinion of a very new member, but I have

also been joining other lists since I got a home computer recently, and some

of the other lists are crammed full of asinine immaturities and vicious

acrimony and insults. I am no angel myself, of course, but really...

And so if I'm not an angel, who am I? An ageing householder in poor health.

I have been a devotee for years now, but I am not a member of any

mainstream religious organisations right now. (I have been a member of

`Mystics of Kali' here in Austraila, tho', and my thanks are due to Colin

for his suggestion that I join this list.) I find this list, so far, to be

a kind and knowledgeable one, containing many useful insights and devotional

practices, and far less wearying interpersonal sniping than elsewhere.

An example of what Ma can do for Her children!

"The proliferation of children who can reach the heights of computer

creation brings to light a basic feature of the computer itself - it is

infantile...[t]he microcomputer is above all a game and is infantile. But

it is also very dangerous. We need to know whether it does not also

'infantalize'."

The disciple Hui-K'e asked Bodhidharma, "Please help me to quiet my mind."

Bodhidharma said, "Bring me your mind so that I can quiet it." After a

moment Hui-K'e said, "But I can't find my mind." "There," said Bodhidharma,

"I have now quieted your mind."
