    Bani Concerning Hinduism

    Similarities

    Reincarnation

Like Hinduism Sikhims believes in the transmigration of the soul. There are countless cycles of births and deaths. One only breaks this cycle when they achieve mukhti (merger with God)

    Karma

Karma regulates the reincarnation and transmigration of the soul, Sikhism links Karma with the doctrine of Grace.

"Mortals obtain a human body as a result of good deeds but he reaches the gate ofsalvation with God's kind grace." (Guru Nanak, Japji)

    Maya

The world is just an illusion and some get enchanted with this illusion and forget God

    Differences

Sikhism rejects polytheism and accepts monotheism. Whereas Sikhism starts with one God and universalizes Him, Hinduism starts with many Gods and occasionally gives glimpses of 'One'.

"I do not accept Ganesha as important. I do not meditate on Krishna, neither on Vishnu. I do not hear them and do not recognize them. My love is with the Lotus feet of God. He is my protector, the Supreme Lord. I am dust of his Lotus feet." (Guru Gobind Singh, Krishna Avatar)

Authority of the Vedas and the belief that the truth revealed in them is absolute and that reading them one can realize perfection.

"I have read all the Vedas, but my mind's separation from God is not removed and the five demons of my house (body) are stilled not even for an instant." (Guru Arjan Dev, Ashtpadis, pg. 687)

Sikhism does not recognize any priestly class.

"Kabir, the Brahman may be the Guru of the world, but he is not the Guru of the saints. He rots to death in the perplexities of the four Vedas" (Bhagat Kabir, Salok, pg. 1377)

Rejection of the Ashrama Dharma theory of dividing man's life into four stages. Instead the Gurus emphasized living the householders life. Rejection of the Varna distinction of division of human society into higher and lower castes.

"There are four castes of the literates, warriors, cultivators and menials and the four stages of life. He who meditates on the Lord is the most distinguished amongst men." (Guru Ram Das, Gond, pg. 861)

"The Lord asks not mortals caste and birth, so find thou out the Lord's True Home (truth). That alone is man's caste and that his glory, as are the deeds which he does." (Guru Nanak, Parbhati, pg. 1330)

The Gurus rejected the Avtara theory of the incarnations of God. The Gurus not only exposed the mortality of these gods but used stories to illustrate moral values, such as 'pride leads to a fall' illustrated by the story of Harnakhash, untouchability becoming superior through devotion to God by Krishna stories and stories where Bhrahma, Vishnu and Shiva are shown to be ordinary mortals. The Gurus stressed that there is only one God and that these gods and goddeses were not true.

"In every age, the Lord creates the kings, who are sung of as His incarnations. Even they have not found His limits." (Guru Amar Das, Ashtpadis, pg. 423)

"Millions of incarnations of Vishnu and Shiv, with matted hair Desire Thee, O Kind Lord, with endless longing of their mind and body. Infinite and Inaccessible is Lord, the World Sustainer, and He is the Omnipresent wealthy Master. The gods, perfect persons, heavenly heralds and celestial singers contemplate on Thee. The greater gods and heavenly dancers utter Thine praises. Myrids of kings, gods and many super human beings remember the Lord and hail Him." (Guru Arjan Dev, Chhant, pg. 455)

    Worship of idols and images.

"The blind ignorant ones stray in doubt and so deluded, deluded they pluck flowers for worship. They worship the lifeless stones and adore tombs. Their service all goes in vain." (Guru Ram Das, Malar, pg. 1264)

"They who say the stone is a god; in vain is their service. He who falls at the feet of the stone; vain goes his labour. My Lord ever speaks. The Lord gives gifts to all the living beings. The Lord is within, but the blind one knows not. Deluded by doubt, he is caught in a noose. The stone speaks not, nor gives anything. In vain are the ceremonies of the idolater, and fruitless his service." (Guru Arjan Dev, Bhairo, pg. 1160)

The Gita and Vedanta goal of a Mukt. Once he achieves salvation he does not live for the community. In Sikhism the Gurmukh achieving salvation lives to save others.

"Abandon lust, wrath, avarice and worldly love. Thus be rid of both birth and death. Distress and darkness shall depart from thy home, when, within thee, the Guru implants wisdom and lights the Divine lamp. He, who serves the Lord crosses the sea of life. Through the Guru, O slave Nanak, the entire world is saved." (Guru Arjan Dev, Gauri, pg. 241)

Belief that reading of the six Shastras and their mastery will bring salvation.

"The greatly voluminous Simirtis and Shastras stretch out the extension of worldly love. The fools read them, but know not their Lord. Some rare one knows Him by the Guru's grace. Of Himself the Creator does and makes others do. By means of the True Bani, He implants truth within the mortal." (Guru Amar Das, Maru, pg. 1053)

"Many Shashtras and many Simirtis have I seen and searched them all. Nanak, they equal not Lord God's invaluable Name." (Guru Arjan Dev, Gauri, pg. 265)

Rejection of Sanskrit or any language as being sacred.

    abt many gods and all

    hinduism stress on ananya bhakti

    so skhs also.........

reading shastras at own is foolishness.........its prooved.....guru can only tell u whats bhakti....so sikhs also believe this

    abt bhrahma,vishnu and shiv

    tulsidas ji wrote

    "vidhi hari shambhu nachaavanhaare"

means that bhrahma, vishnu and shiv are controlled by krishna or mahavishnu

    so sikhs also say this

    wheres difference........

    guru gobind singh ji wrote

i dnt believe in ganesh ,krishna and vishnu

    whereas

he has written 24 avtars of mahavishnu

    and

    one if his line are

    "bin prem kaha brajnayak payo"

without love u cant attain brajnayak(krishna)

so conclusion is it is called "virodhi dharmo ka anushthaan"

in our vedas also its same

ved says that lord is formless and he also have form

    same by sikh gurus.

god is virodhi dharmo ka anushthaan.

so only follow bhakti, bhakti and bhakti

thats what sikhism is and also hinduism.

arre guru nanak ji wriiten on first page og ggsj

    "akaal moorat"

    dekhiye yaha likha hai

    "moorat" matlab with form

phir bhi yeh kehna ki sikhism only believes in formless

    galat hoga

We have heard that when Guru Nanak (the saint in India who founded the Sikh religion) was young, his father told him, "Go to the market and bring back the ingredients we need to sell at our shop." On the way to the market he came upon many Vaisnavas and sadhus. Seeing that there was no management of prasadam for them, he quickly went to the market and bought all the paraphernalia needed to make a festival for them, and for that purpose he spent all his father's money. He later returned home empty-handed, and his father asked, "Where are the ingredients I told you to buy – the rice, dahl, ghee and other things?"

Guru Nanak replied, "I did the shopping, but I have given all the goods for the service of Vaisnavas. In this way I have done some very good shopping for my future life and for the benefit of my whole dynasty." He had so much strong belief in Krsna; he knew that if one serves Krsna, Krsna will give him everything he needs.

    right.............

even 5th guru of sikhs guru arjun dev ji mentionad all avtars of mahavishnu ji

  4. l the forms of God and Goddesses known as almighty powers are naturally self-submitted to Radha Krishn. Almighty forms of God have Their Blissful form of Divine regality which a Saint experiences in Vaikunth. It is somewhat like a king to his subject’s relationship and preferences. The loving form of Radha Krishn is the ocean of unlimited Divine Bliss. It reveals such a ‘love’ that is beyond imagination. It is so marvelous that even Goddess Maha Lakchmi cannot describe it. That makes it exceptionally special and great. Just think, if the sandalwood tree bears a flower, how deep and exciting would be its fragrance? This is the excellence of Radha Krishn love as compared to the Blissfulness of Vaikunth.

The Upnishads say that ahladini power is the supreme power of God Krishn that holds all the powers within itself. He is called poorntam purushottam brahm, the supreme personality of God. Thus, all the forms of God reside within Krishn, whereas all the forms are absolute and are Divinely one. Also, all the forms are the various forms of Krishn Himself representing Their respective Divine powers with varying Blissful elegance. Thus, there is an absolute oneness with definite Blissful differences in all the forms of God. This simultaneous non-differential difference is the natural feature of God Krishn which is established by the yogmaya, Radha, Who is the essence and life force of ahladini power.

The concentrated essence of ahladini power is called the ‘Divine love power’, like the concentrated perfume of rose flowers in an essence form. This is the power that manifests the loving leelas of Krishn. The absolute essence of the Divine love, and absolute culminated state of all the exciting, loving and thrilling aspects of the Divine love power is Mahabhao. That Mahabhao is Shree Raseshwari Radha Rani, the supreme Queen of Divine Vrindaban. Her eight personal aides, Lalita etc., are the expansion of Her own personality.

So, Radha Krishn are the absolute supreme brahm in two forms. Shree Raseshwari Radha Rani is the supreme para shakti. The Puranas describe the superiority of Radha upon leela purushottam Krishn by saying that Radha is the ‘soul’ and ‘life breath’ of Krishn and thus She is the origin of Krishn’s all-greatness. However, Radha and Krishn are one; whatever is Radha, the same is Krishn.

The Divine beauty of Radha and Krishn is beyond imagination. Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj has revealed thousands of chantings and pads that describe the Gracious beauty of Their Divine form. The following are English translations of two of Shree Maharajji’s Divine chantings explaining the exceeding beauty of Radha, and Krishn’s supreme form and exquisite decorations.

    please help me!

i am thinking and thinking and i cant imagine why krishna would not marry sri radha!!!!

It is okay to chant any names that you like, but by chanting Radhe Radhe you won't get love of God. Because it is not recommemded by Krsna or Radha or even Lord Caitanya. Lord Caitanya is the ONLY Person who could give love of God in this age, and He asked everyone to chant ONLY name of Krsna and no one else.

"The Lord placed a flower garland around each devotee's neck. Then the Lord ordered: Sing Krsna. Talk of Krsna. Worship Krsna. Sing Krsna's name. Think only of Lord Krsna. Think of no one else. If you love Me, then please sing only of Lord Krsna. Sing of no one else. Whether asleep, awake, or eating your meals, think only of Lord Krsna day and night. With your mouths speak only of Him." (Caitanya bhagavata Madhya-khanda Chapter 28 Text 25-28)

har woh cheez jo tumhara sri krishna ke prati prem utpan kare usse apnalo.

    dont think of these things..........

vedas says every name is his name..

sab govind hai sab govind hai...................

  6.

Don't respect other mayawadi religions. If you are Vaisnava then only respect Krsna and Chitannya Mohaprabhu. Follow the teaching of Prabhupada and you will be delivered.

    all religions r pure

  7.

    Dear Sadman and others,

I can easily relate. I am originally from South Africa and moved to Australia nearly a decade ago to try and escape black magic problems.

South Africa is littered with black magic. It is very strong there, because of the mixture of arts [i.e zanzibara = muslim and african witchcraft].

My family has been suffering with severe problems going back 3 generations.

I am deeply disappointed to view the responses of some people who dismiss presence of black magic, and relate to law of karma, psychological factors, etc. Furthermore, offering chanting of Hare-Krishna maha-mantra for protection from such severe black magic is difficult unless you can are able to develop the level of concentration needed [which is close to impossible if you are already suffering].

I understand that it feels like you having nothing more to live for, but please try to retain your belief in God. There are several things I can suggest you try [these will not cure 100%, but should calm things down a little].

    - Divya Prabhandum on audio MP3 cd. Play continuously in house [i guarantee you will notice difference].

    - Arthava Veda and Ach-Chidram audio cds. These are potent vedic mantras that help restore balance and aid in removing negative energies.

    - Vishnu, Laxmi, Laxmi-Narasimha Sahasranaamas and Hanuman Chalisa on audio CD - play in house. Good to meditate with and invoke Lord's presence.

There are also several mantras I can suggest you chant:

    - Sudarshana Sahasra Mantram - e.g Om Hreem Kleem Krishnaya Govindaya ...

    Recite 27 or 54 or 108 times a day.

If you require any of above CDs, please supply your e-mail or postal address and I would be glad to burn them and post to you.

Keep the light burning in you heart , because at the end of the day, that's all we have to live on.

    yeah ryan is rite

jab tak hari mohe rehat sahai

tab tak pret nikatt nahi ayi

  8.

hello i am a young worshiper of the Lord. i understand that any worshipe we do should be to please the lord only and not for ourselves. but i always find myself asking the mercyful Lord for things.

also if anyone could provide any information on how i should worship God daily (before college). at the moment i begin with a sloka to Lord Ganapati, then LaxmiNarayan, then Lord Shiva, then Lord Hanuman, then Radha Krsna. (i try to remember lord krsna throughout the day chanting the maha mantra in my mind). is there any other sort of worship needed?

apologies for any offence i may have caused.

    hare krishna!

    very good...............

saying mahamantra is enough though u cAn remember other devs.....

never let krishna go frm ur "antakaran" i.e heart

    radhe radhe

  9.

If I may add to your kind comments, Theist-ji.

Let's also be clear on just what "love" is. When we are truly loving we will love not just our families, but all living entities.

What most of us call "love" is really just attachment, infatuation, intrigue, and often in the case of parent's "love" for their children--narcisism.

A good indicator of what is really "love" is how many conditions we place on that love. If only love our parents when they are providing for our material sustenance, or if we only love our children when they are obedient, then how deep is that love?

So yes, we are advised to free ouselves of our material attachments (while carrying out our prescribed duties), we *should* whole-heartedly love our familes, and, as Theist says, the best way we can love them is to share the Mercy of Mahaprabhu with them.

As the father of two small children, I must say that, when I hear or read the childhood pastimes of Sri Krishna these days, I do so with a vastly different perspective than I did when I was a child myself (or before I had children of my own).

Can I be so bold as to say, fatherhood has granted me greater insight into the mellows of vatsalya (parental) rasa (while I still aspire for even shanta (neutral) rasa).

GIVE UR BODY WORK TO UR FAMILY

AND GIVE UR HEART TO SRI KRISHNA

BECAUSE FAMILY WANTS WORK AND SRI KRISHNA WANTS HEART....

OBEY UR DUTY AND BOND UR EVERY WORK TOWARDS FAMILY WITH SRI KRISHNA AS GOPIS DID.......

  11.

WORSHIPPING RADHA IS THE ULTIMATE? What about Bhagwan Purshottam Narayan Shri Krishna?

worshipping bhagwan is always correct but worshipping krishna cannot be done

there is diff between love and worshipping............

purshottam narayan is worshipped whereas krishna is loved

like for eg:one person krishna deva is senior officer.when he is at home he is not any officer ,if his son says him to be horse for him..he will do that.

but same person when goes to his office ...is same son comes there in office during his meeting ........he will not allow him to enter in meeting and not obey his son...like he does in home.

similarly sri krishna's onr authority is bhagwan that is narayan purshottam and virat swaroop..he is bhagwan..with all aishwarayas....

but when in braj he is crying for makhan and obeying gopis because of prem.

he is doing sewa of radha rani who is principal of krishna's love school.....

so sri krishna narayan purshottam is worshipped but sri krishna as gwal is loved which is done by all the bhakts as saints as mira, surdas, tulsidas, nanak, and many[anant].

worshipping radha is worshipping prem of radha rani for sri krishna

and radha krishna are not 2.....they r one

    ........

this all frm the mukharbind of sri kripalu ji maharaj.

i m sewak of kripaluji mahaparabhu

    radhe radhe

  12.

    Radhey Radhey Bhaiya,

That is good to hear that people can be brought to Shree Maharajji's Satsang over an internet board. I started posting here during a period when there was alot of Namapradha here. The offender's identity was discovered by me and he quickly retracted.

By the way, i'm curious of *your* identity. If you have been at Barsana Dham during Shree Maharajji's visit, then I must have seen you or know you. ;)

So, i might try to figure you out when i get time...

    Bye.

sri maharaj ji showed me true path of bhakti and explained me true devotion

as guru nanak dev ji[my eternal guru ji] used to do.......

i find maharaj ji my living guru....i hope i cud get chance to meet him

    amrit.
