  1. when are srila prabhupadas teachings ever independent of guru varga? also i wish i had even a farthing of enthusiasm--what to speak of over-enthusiasm--for srila prabhupada and krsna consciousness...anyone reading that post could have easily cross-referenced (ie, internet-searched) the content and would have easily discovered the source for the overall meaning of my post...

  2.

For so long with so many petitions, lamentations and supplications...but still no KRSNA?!

Am I still trying to see KRSNA and not let KRSNA see me?

What's it gonna take on my part for KRSNA to appear on the lotus of my heart or to dance on my tongue or even hear the sound of His flute?

Is Krsna playing 'hard to get'?

Am I meant to be eternally 'in separation' but with the desire for union??

Is it a totally 'selfish' desire to want to see KRSNA?:crying2:

krsna is non-different from his name , form, pastimes, paraphernalia, etc etc

krsna is dancing on your tongue when you chant his holy name....

just like sugar is naturally sweet but to a person suffering from jaundiced (anarthas in the heart, offenses when chanting etc) the sugar tastes bitter but the sugar itself is the cure...so bittersweet ! isnt it....

purification will bring a taste for krsna back....

also, im just as jaundiced as the next person....but i believe what srila prabhupada has taught....at least i try to believe...

  3. this was added when the BBT published the light of the bhagavat long after srila prabhupada's disappearance....srila prabhupada wrote numerous small books long like Easy Journey before he arrived in america while he was studying and residing at the most auspicious radha damodara in vrndavana...as well as the 3 books of SB Canto 1 commentary, translation etc....that he carried with him to america on the jaladuta...

Iskcon is Sirla Prabhupada's body? Does than include all the abuses that happen within Iskcon?

    This is fundamentalism....

to answer your question and the question of the other "guest" regarding the statement that "ISKCON is Srila Prabhupada's body".... srila prabhupada said this himself....and obviously, if someone in ISKCON is deviating from principles and is not practicing krsna consciousness but absorbed in material bodily consciousness (tamas, rajas, sattvic, what have you) then clearly this is not what srila prabhupada wanted and therefore it is not representative of srila prabhupada's ISKCON movement...to say that a few bad apples and their adverse, subversive behavior not in accordance with krsna consciousness is the ruination of the transcendental hare krsna movement (ISKCON) is absurd...that would be like saying a a foul smell that permeates the air fouls the entire world's supply of oxygen...or a little pollution in the ocean is the destruction of the entire ocean...apply a farthing of logic please...

    thank you

Vedic scholars were dead & gone by the time the Bhagavatam was written.

In any case, since you take the position that the SB talks about non-physical distances (whatever that means), then I am sure you have no problem in honestly admitting that Prabhupada was talking nonsense when he complained (based on his understanding of the SB) that man never went to the moon as the scientists miscalculated the distance of the moon from the earth.

He mus be wrong in your opinion as you just admitted that the SB does not refer to the physical moon while the scientists were calculating distances to the physical moon.

Or do you want to change you tune now and continue your game of defending the existence of dragons in seas?

The real problem is, if you examine yourselves for one honest moment, you will know Prabhupada was way off on this one. However, such an admission (even to yourselves) is too expensive. It is so much simpler to pretend everything is fine and continue your life of denial. Sad in a way...but that is how it is.

first of all, the bhagavatam and the knowledge therein has existed since time immemorial, for the bhagvatam, as with krsna, and the jiva, there is no beginning or end...lastly...srila prabhupada was not "way off" on anything....he simply represents the parampara coming from sri krsna himself...

According to the Gita, every single action we perform leads us to bondage (yajnarthat kamano 'nyatra...). Krishna goes as far as saying anyone who simply cooks food for himself is eating verily only sin, and will suffer in future lives. You cannot escape the karmic reactions, and resultant suffering, simply because something is convenient for yourself and makes your material life more enjoyable. Acting on Krishna's direct order for the purpose of protecting dharma is quite different than acting for your own sense gratification (or for your own avoidance of discomfort).

    well put !

    hare krsna

its one of those "for every action (not done in krsna consciousness) there is an equal (or lesser or greater ) and opposite reaction" type things....

  7. actually srila prabhupada explains this nicely many times in his books , classes , lectures, etc ....sri krsna is the only person who is Bhagavan, full in six aspects...attraction, power, wealth, strength, beauty, etc...no person other than sri krsna is all-powerful, all-beautiful, all-attractive, all-everything, full in everything...when you find such a person then you will surely have met the Supreme Personality of Godhead....also...the 3 aspects of the supreme personality of godhead include the brahmajyoti into which the yogi wishes to merge, krsna's effulgence, the impersonal aspect appreciated/worshipped by the mayavadi and sri krsna himself, bhagavan, the supreme personality of godhead...i have always found the description of god as the Supreme Personality of Godhead as very beautiful and the be-all end-all of what the highest meaning of god, the creator, the most high signifies....before i found krsna consciousness, i was at a great loss as to any aspect of godhead what to speak of the aspect known as the Supreme Personality of Godhead....biblical aphorisms just didnt contain nearly as much significance or description of the godhead.....jaya srila prabhupada...thank you for saving the world from the nescience of darkness and ignorance.....

  8. the advice presented in "you are in for a real treat" is, sadly, quite offensive and replete with various aparadha....toward devotee, deity, etc....for instance :

"Keep your inner innocence and just think of everyone there that Krsna is in their heart and there is Krsna in his XXXXXX whatever disguise. "There is Krsna disguised as a neophtye devotee. There is Krsna disguised as an over-bearing TP. There is Krsna disguised as a beautiful innocent brahmacarini. There is Krsna disguised as a new brahmacari. There is Krsna in the disguise as a sannyasi who really would rather not be a sannyasi anymore but he still has to play the part."

the above quote from the above post is based on no sloka or parampara, guru, sadhu, sastra that i have personally ever heard of....approach the ISKCON hare krsna temple and the devotees within in the humble and enlightened mood of rupa goswami's bhakti rasamrta sindhu (the nectar of devotion) or upadesamrta (nectar of instruction) and you will receive lord krsna's causeless mercy without hesitation....

definitely avoid visiting a hare krsna temple and its members pretending that you are a karmi, meat-eating, cow-killing bhoga food critic, as per:

"Or be like Ruth Reichel the editor of Gourmet Magazine who was formerly a food critic. She would go into a restaurant in several different disguises to see how they really treated people and how they really served food"......actually go to the temple to have some maha-prasada !! hare krsna !

and please spare yourself of making the mistake and grievous offense of comparing the spiritual world, the hare krsna temple--what srila prabhupada called "Vaikuntha"--to "hindu" culture and "hindu dharma" as does the poster :

"It would be interesting if you did a compare and contrast of other temples of Hinduism in your area to make it a true sociological field trip, noting similarities and differences. Then you can get a better idea of what is Hindu dharma and Indian culture: whatever is the same when you people watch, Deity watch, sadhu watch, and/or pujari watch"

in fact i could replace all of these quotes, nay, the entire post with nectar from srila prabhupadas books on how to approach, behave, receive and interact with sri krsna's bhaktas and temple...but i beg you to read them for yourself as i am sure you have : ) you will surely have a blissful time, an ecstatic time, a purifying time and most importantly, time with sri krsna caitanya himself....

some more thoughts on some more quotes from the misguided post, "you are in for a real treat" :

"But be careful! remember what Ken Kesey said to Tom Wolfe when he was writing The Electric Kool-aid Acid Trip: "If you hang out enough with us some of it is going to rub off on you." What KK was referring to is they were moving a dresser and some of the red paint from the freshly painted wall got onto Tom Wolfe's three piece suit. But has deeper implications also"

actually srila prabupada, the jagat guru, sri krsna's purest representative, said it best many, many times himself when he explains that when iron is placed into fire, it will itself in time become fire...when conditioned souls associate with sri krsna and krsna's representatives and devotees, they become purified and blessed and develop a taste for devotional service and chanting hare krsna.....

and definitely, definitely do not go into a hare krsna temple, such an auspicious place, with this crooked and false mentality:

"Just think of yourself as a journalist, keep an affectionate distance. Pretend you are super rich bazillionaire wondering who to donate his wealth to, pretend you are the king seeing how the citizens are behaving when they don't know you are watching. Or pretend you are Dick Cheney doing a little Homeland Security detail on a rare jaunt out of your secure, undisclosed location where you usually spend all of your time in a fortified bunker."

i mean , all of us have a hard enough time battling maya and illusion, why would you enter a hare krsna temple in such a unhumble, unspiritual attitude, pretending to be something or someone you are not...we identify with this false ego, ahankara enough already, why drape on another material costume or false mentality on top of the material costume of the material body...this whole thing would be laughable if it wasnt so misleading and, frankly, just sad....the idea is to awaken the jiva from identifying with matter...not to plunge the soul into more darkness and confusion, rebirth, etc....

chant hare krsna and be happy and be blissful and be real....

    thank you very much

  9. srila prabhupada has explained that a hare krsna temple, an ISKCON temple, "is Vaikuntha"....or a place in the material world where material anxiety--as it relates to birth, death, old age and disease--is absent....where there is sri krsna, there is light...where there is light, darkness cannot sustain....thats all the invite i ever needed....before i became i devotee and moved into the ISKCON temple in berkeley--new jagannatha puri dhama--i was voraciously reading srila prabhupadas transcendental books (wasnt another name of Bhimadeva vrkodara..he of a voracious appetite) and when i read srila prabhupada write that the temple was Vaikuntha i thought to myself "wow, i have never read anything like that in any other religious text as long as i have been alive"....anyway....lest i rant....chant hare krsna
