  1. see last attachment! Anthropomorphism Anthropomorphism, also referred to as personification or prosopopoeia, is the attribution of human characteristics and qualities to non-human beings, objects or natural phenomena such as animals, forces of nature, or believing in an unseen author of things, amongst many other possibilities. "Anthropomorphism" comes from two Greek words anthropos, meaning human, and morphe, meaning shape or form. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropomorph
  2. see attachment Myth A myth is a traditional story, believed to be true by the culture or cultures from which it comes, that uses the supernatural to interpret natural events and to explain the nature of the universe and humanity. It has its roots in the primitive folk-beliefs of cultures. In common parlance, a myth is generally considered a "mere story" -- that is, a story that holds meaning for people, but the narrative of which is untrue. In sociology, however, a myth may be historical or fictional without altering its nature as myth, because the power of myth lies in the meaning and broader truth it conveys, rather than the historicity of the story. In folkloristics, which is concerned with the study of both secular and sacred narratives (the latter being myths), a myth also derives some of its power from being believed and deeply held as true; to folklorists, all sacred traditions have myths, and there is nothing pejorative or dismissive about the term as there is in common usage.
