Namaskar to all. I have seen a few comments on the subject of horoscope matching for matrimony. At best astrology, I believe, is a pseudo-science which can predict only the tendencies. It may work well as a caution/encouragement before a major decision in life and also as consolation after any major failures in life. I personaly do not like astrologers playing GOD by making drastic predictions without any consideration for the subject involved. Coming to matrimonial matching, I feel this is a most unscientific practice imposed by our tradition on the otherwise intelligent Hindu community. It is often a practice for the bride and groom parties to consult different astrolgers and very very rarely they agree on matching of horoscope due to different mathodologies employed for matching. There are a lot of half-cooked amature astrolgers who rule out so many prospective matrimonial matches more as a safe exit for thier lack of deeper knowledge. There is no standardisation: a) in charting the horoscopes, b) in matching the horoscopes c) in agreeing on different kinds of so-called doshas and their pariharas. There is no accredition of astrolgers by any higher hindu religious and spiritual organisation, which leads to lot of imperfections that get passed on to future generations also. Most people are losing faith on matrimonial horoscope matching because of the above weaknesses in the system. To restore faith in the system we need to do the following: 1. Introduce a method of accredition of astrolgers 2. Standardise methods of matrimonial Matchings 3. Prove effectiveness of such matches by conducting case studies on - Horoscopes of couples already married and having a successful married life - Horoscopes of couples already married and marriage having failed - Horoscopes of couples already married and having minor marital problems This will also help standardising matching methods. Otherwise, boys and girls look for themselves their matches good or bad. Or most often they marry outside our Hindu community. Now I leave this issue for nobler minds. Namaskar Nagarajan
