Namaste friends,

Sri Jagannath Centre will organize a Jyotish workshop in the greater Boston area at Maynard, Mass, USA in October 2005. Please register now if you want to attend it.

We have an excellent line-up of topics and a good blend of traditional knowledge and research. If there is a chance that you can attend, do consider attending!

When

The weekend Jyotish workshop will take place during October 15-16, 2005. This is a great time to visit the New England area if you stay in another part of USA (or in another country). New England area gets the best Fall Foliage in the entire USA and mid-October is the right time to see fall colors.

There will also be a Satya Narayana vratam (a Hindu ritual for Lord Satya Narayana) at our house in South Grafton on October 16 from 6:15 pm to 9:15 pm. Workshop attendees are most welcome to attend the vratam and have prasadam for dinner after the ritual.

Speakers

Four scholars from Sri Jagannath Centre will teach at this workshop. Dr. Brendan Feeley, Raghunatha Rao Nemani, Narayan Iyer and P.V.R. Narasimha Rao will be the speakers.

Agenda

October 15, 2005 (Saturday)

09:00 am - 12:30 pm: Angular Return Charts (PVR Narasimha Rao)

PVR Narasimha Rao is an SJC Jyotish Guru from South Grafton, Mass. Angular return charts are a result of his original research. The motivation for his research comes from the system of Tithi Pravesha (soli-lunar return charts). His research is a generalization of the Tithi Pravesha system taught by tradition. He found some quick methods to identify the years of important events. He will share this research with others for the first time at this workshop.

02:00 pm - 05:30 pm: Four Elements of a Chart (Sri Narayan Iyer)

Sri Narayan Iyer is an SJC Jyotish Guru from Framingham, Mass. He will focus on the understanding of the essence of Bhaava (house), Bhaavadhipati (house lord), Bhaava Arudha (house manifestation) and Graha Arudha (planetary manifestation). Each of the four elements has a distinct role to play and they cannot be used interchangeably. Unless and until we understand their meanings, chart analysis would be at best very vague, meaningless and a case of of shooting arrows in the dark! He will present his researches based on hints from tradition.

October 16, 2005 (Sunday)

09:00 am - 12:30 pm: Using Trimsamsa (Dr Brendan Feeley)

Dr Brendan Feeley is an SJC Jyotish Guru, homeopath and ayurvedic vaidya from Maryland. He will discuss the use of Trimsamsa (D-30 chart) in diagnosing disease and other ills. The effect of the tattva ruling the Trimsamsa will bring out the effect of the disease and the dosha imbalance in the chart. Various case studies will make for a better understanding of the working of this divisional chart.

02:00 pm - 04:00 pm: An Introduction to Sri RG Rao Ji's Kashyapa Hora (Sri Raghunatha Rao Nemani)

Sri Raghunatha Rao is a senior member of SJC. He will share the knowledge of Kashyapa Hora nadi principles that he received from his guru Sri Ramadas Rao, who is an SJC Jyotish Guru from Kuwait. Sri Ramadas Rao belongs to Kashyapa gotra and learnt Kashyapa Hora nadi principles from Sri RG Rao, a renowned nadi Jyotish expert from south India.

06:15 pm - 09:15 pm: Satya Narayana Vratam (A Hindu ritual)

Lord Satya Narayana is a form of Narayana, who embodies Truthfulness. He lives in us as our commitment to Truth. It is very auspicious to worship Him on Full Moon nights using the procedure described in Puranas This vratam will take place at our house in South Grafton, Mass. All are welcome to attend the vratam, get blessings of the Lord and have prasadam (food offered to God and then consumed by devotees) for dinner.

Where

The venue will be

4 Clock Tower Place

Maynard, MA 01754

This is the same location where the greater Boston workshops of November 2003 and September 2004 took place.

Fee

Previous events organized by SJC in the Boston area were free events and they were supported by voluntary donations. With the blessings of Sanjay ji, we decided to adopt the same approach for the greater Boston workshop of 2005. The event is free. But we will be accepting with gratitude any voluntary donations people may make, to cover our expenses. Those who do not want to attend the event and yet want to donate money to support this event are requested to contact me (pvr). We need your financial assistance and encouragement to make the event (and also this voluntary approach) successful.

Registration

To register, please send a mail to pvr to reserve a seat. Please give your name, email address, postal address and a telephone number. These details will be kept confidential and not shared with spammers.

Those of you who cannot attend the entire event can register for one day also. If so, please mention the day.

Just like at the last year's workshop, we may be able to accommodate some of you at my house and at the houses of some Indian families who live nearby and provide free transportation to and from the workshop venue. We can also offer rides to and from the Boston Logan airport and Providence airport. If you are interested in exploring this possibility, please contact me (pvr). If you need help with selecting a nearby hotel, then also you can send me an email.

It is a good idea to cc all the emails sent to me to paddulu. This is the address of my wife Padmaja and she is more regular in checking mail than I am.

I hope this year's workshop will also be a great success like in the previous years!

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha
