Dear Friends,

I desire to go for Tirupati Darshan after a gap of 20 years or so on 9th May. Things must have changed very much now . Some few of you may be regular visitors to Tirupati.

Can anybody guide me -

1) Which place to put up after alighting from the railway station ? (To get fresh and ready for the Darshan and maybe a halt overnight)

2) How much time does it take in the que to get the Darshan ?

3) Are there any special Darshan Passes available on payment

of more money , like they have here at Siddhivinayak Temple at Bombay ?

4) Can coming to Tirupati, having Darshan, and boarding the train back

be all done between morning to night, in a single day ?

5) Which good places recommended for Lunch-Dinner ?

regards,

Bhaskar.

dear sri Bhaskar,

I have not gone to thirupathi in the last 2years.

I had gone to attend a marriage during 2007. THe marriage party

had booked an accomodation at Tirumala thirupathi devasthanam

down the hill maybe it is 4kms from the station. u have plenty of

very clean rooms but i am not sure abt the procedure as how to book the room.

U can stay at Hotel Bhimas which is quite good this is once again very

close to the abovementioned devasthanam.

coming to dharshan I would advise u to get a kalyan utsava ticket, this

ticket will permit abt 4members(not sure abt the numbers), they will inform

u the time to be present and u will have to be there and u can witness the

marriage ceremony of Lord venkateswara with goddess padmavathi after which

u will be merged in the common que inside the temple.

if ur buying Rs.100/. ticket per head there again u will have to enter

the vaikuntam complex with the ticket, it may take 2 to 3hrs for darshan.

the next alternate is if u can get a cottage somewhere near the temple it

will be more ideal as u can try for early morniing darshan. however time taken

can never be predicted.

U can buy these tickets at mumbai if u have a TTD office, and all the members have

to be present in the office becuase all of them have to give their thumb impression on

the computer with which the photo of the individual will be transmitted at Vaikuntam

complex, this procedure is to avoid using another person's ticket.

Last but not the least ( i will not prefer) is seeking the help of touts at

thirupathi temple who will get u the tickets and allow u to join the que hitherto

it may take 2 -3hrs for darshan.

It is better u allot one full day to be at thirupathi hills to have the darshan of

lord balaji. Of course after completing the darshan u can have the darshan

of goddess padmavathi at the temple down below the hill. if u have time

u can go to kalahasti ( 35kms from thirupathi) and have darshan of Rahu and

ketu temple.

I hope the above guidelines will be of some help to u to chalk out ur

programme.

good luck,

k.gopu

Dear Sri Bhaskar

Guru, you are travelling to Tirupathi, why do you worry , you have lot of facilities available now , as i have understood thru your mails that you are travelling from Mumbai, correct , what ever it is , you have a fantastic web site called ttdesavaonline.com you can book your accommodation and darshna ticket thru that , Please go thru that site. You must be having a information center in your town there also you can book your darshan ticket , please concentrate on your darshan , because you can get accommodation any where either in the Temple place or a private lodge.

Do not worry "Lord Balaji will be with you through out your journey and safe gaurd you from all the troubles"

Ram

Respected Bhaskar garu,

Thanks for the Helpful tips which you gave us. I think you are travelling from Mumbai. So first visit your nearest branch of TTD at your place and even you can book cottages, darshanam tickets online also.

If you have cable connection at your home pl see the SVBC channel which is running by TTD temple. All the details will be scrolled below line of that channel.(details of all sevas, buses, and cottages )

If you want to know more about this temple and its details pl. visit these sites.

 http://www.tirumala-tirupati.com/plc_tirumala.php

 http://www.telugupedia.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tirupati

if you know telugu language then pl visit this site http://www.omnamovenkatesaya.com/tirumala_darsini/Tirumala_darsini.htm

If you search in google you can get some more information about this temple.

If you want to stay for a while to get fresh, you should go to srinivasam complex. Out side the tirupathi railway station there will be many taxis or auto's by which u can reach to this complex in a span of 10-15 min. If u want u can take a cottage to get fresh. Otherwise the locker system is available, so that u can put ur luggage and get fresh ,stay at a very spacious ground floor. From this place a lot buses will be available to tirumala temple.

In this complex u can get all details about the types of darshanams which will available at tirumala. I think u may not feel comfort to go for free darshanam(min of 6-10 hrs). pl go for some other facilities like (Sudarshanam token, Nija pada darshanam…etc   which will take 3-4 hrs)

After reaching tirumala u can notify no.of cottages (A/c & non A/c) and free cottages also. If u able to spend money anymuch u can opt to A/c since its summer.(pl don’t forget to bring umbrellas from ur home or u can get from there also, but a little costlier). If u are able to get a letter from VIP or any minister  you can get cottages and darshanam ticket (VIP darshanam ticket). Pl do take cottages near by temple only.since its roaring summer you cannot walk to temple from your cottage frequently if u take it in long distance.

On tirumala u can visit to some places in free buses which are running by TTD temple. Those r free.

While going to darshanam first u have to visit Varahaswamy temple which near by pushkarini. Then only u have to go for darshanam of  venkateshwara swamy.

Coming to Tirupati, having Darshan, and boarding the train back may not possible  all done between morning to night, in a single day. U can visit some other places(srikalahasti, govinraja swamy temple, padmavathi ammavari temple, and the most famous KANIPAKAM TEMPLE) which r nearer to tirupathi. It may possible if u r visiting single & do not wish to visit any other places.

Regarding Lunch/Dinner its ur wish to have it on tirumala or coming to tirupathi and can have it.

Smoking & drinking liquor is completely banned on tirumala. Pl put ur mobile phones at your cottages only. They wont alow inside the temple.

            SHUBH YATRA………..

Regards,

Jyothi.K
