Dear Srinivasan,

I can give you information about few DDs that you want to cover.

I am assuming that you are planning to go by BUS.

My suggestion is cover 3,4 and 5 on 1st day morning, 1 and 2 in the 1stday evening.

And 6 and 7 on the 2nd day.

1. Koodal azhagar -

This temple is in walkable distance from Periyar Bus Stand (One of the 5 bus Stands in Madurai).

2. Aazhagar Koil - is 20 kms from Madurai. You will get buses from Periyar Bus Stand itself.

You can cover both (1) and (2) this in one short.

The next three DDs you can plan to visit in a single stretch.

3. Thirumogur - 20 Kms from Madurai

You can get a bus to Thirumogur from Periyar Bus Stand(PBS) itself.

Or Catch a bus from PBS to Mattuthavani Bus Stand (MBS). From there you can take a town bus to

Thirumogur!

This bus will go via a Bus Stop Othakadai and a take a detour to Thirumogur.

4) Thirkoshtiyur - ( 40 + 10 ) from Othakadai.

After completing darshan from Thirumogur, on the way back Get down at Othakadai itself.

Take any bus that goes to Thiruppathur or Karaikudi or Devakottai.

Get down at Thiruppathur and take another bus to Thirukkoshtiyur. (10 kms from Thiruppathur).

5). Thirumayam - 30-40 mins from Thiruppathur.

Take any Trichy/Tanjore bus (via Thirumayam) from Thiruppathur!

To come back to madurai, you can take directly from Thirumayam to Madurai .

6 & 7) I have given information from Thiruthangal and Srivilliputur from

srivaishavam.com

Thiruthankaal and Srivilliputtur: Thiruthankal and Srivilliputtur can be covered by first going to Thiruthankal from madurai ,then srivilliputtur and then returning back to madurai. One can take the Virudunagar road from madurai, and while proceeding onwards to sivakasi from Virdunagar ask for directions to thiruthankal and reach the thiruthankal temple. After finishing thirukankal one can reach Srivilliputtur via sivakasi (around 25 kms by road). After visiting the Andal temple and the Perumal kovil which is the divya desam one can return to madurai(72 kms by road).Direct Buses to Sivakasi and Srivilliputtur are frequently available from madurai.Currently there is bus stand at thirumangalam for buses going towards that direction.

Dear Sri Srinivasan Swamin I do hail from Madurai and I am pleased to suggest this means of travelling, covering all of the Divya Desams, as intended by you within one and half days, but it would be a hectic schedule. If you reach Madurai in the early morning of 10th instance, ideally hire a cab by 5.30 - 6.00 am and proceed directly to Tirumeyyam, which is in the Madurai-Tanjore route (approximately 75 kms from Madurai) so as to reach there by 8.30am. The temple is open from 7.00am till 12 noon and is very near to Tirumeyyam Bus stand. Finish off Mangalasaasanam quickly at Sathyamoorthy perumal sannidhi, at Tirumeyyam within 1 hour and you can head towards Tirukoshtiyur, which is (return direction) enroute to Madurai, near Tirupathur(6 kms away from here). The sanctum sanctorum would be open till 12 noon here too. Have darshan of Sowmya Narayana/Madhava Perumal here.

The travel time from Tirumeyyam to Tirukostiyur would take not more than 45 minutes. Again, Tirumoghur exactly falls enroute to Madurai, in your return direction from Tirukostiyur to Madurai. If you are not particular about lunch at Tirukostiyur, you can plan and reach Tirumoghur well before noon and have darshan of Kalamegha Perumal before 1.00 pm(this journey from Tiukostiyur to Tirumoghur would not take more than 1hr and 15 minutes). Otherwise, you may have to wait till evening till 4.00 pm at Tirumoghur for darshan and also retrace the path once again. Return to Madurai, take rest for one or two hours, hire a cab by 4.00pm once again to reach Srivilliputhur, which is exactly 70kms from Madurai in the Southern direction, enroute to Rajapalayam and Shencottah. The journey would take exactly 1hr and 45 mts. Have darshan of Kothai Natchiar and Vadabadra sayee(Ranga Mannar), Periazhwar sannidhi within half an hours' time

and proceed to Tiruthangal, which would take not less than 45 mts to 1 hr journey from Srivilliputhur and it is after Sivakasi in this route. The sannithi is open till 8.30 pm at Thiruthanka and return back to Madurai. Next day morning, may be, you can (either prior to attending your marriage function or after that)plan Koodal azhagar(aahuya varadan & vyuha sundararajan & madhuravalli thayar sannathis) in the early morning, as the temple is open from 6.30 am to 12.noon and finish off Azhagar Koil or Tirumaliruncholai malai, which is exactly 17 kms from Madurai and would take half an hour drive. The sannithi would be open till 12 noon. As suggested to you earlier, unless, you hire a car, you may not be able to have darshan in all of 7 Divya desams, within your time frame of 1 and half days. Trust this aforesaid suggestions would be of some use to you for good darshan. Dear Swamin, The KOODAZHAGHAR temple is located in the heart of the city. It is very near to the Periyar bus stand (five minutes walk). The AZHAHAR KOIL is located at the northern part of the Madurai. It is located at the foot hills of azhaghar malai, where we have two important places. one is palamuthir Sozhalai and akasa gangai. in my opinion it may take entire half day to visit this temple. adiyen krishnan batri samrajyam srinivasarao <ssrao369 wrote: dear shri sriranga srinivasan, I furnish here under the information required by you.
