It has been an extraordinary experience to see

the responses of so many devotees to take part

and help . In my earlier note , I mentioned about

the need for caution and patience in entrusting

any organization unless and otherwise their credentials,

past performance and capacity for Sustained support

are established . Please do not send your funds yet

because it will be way ahead of the arrangements

to be made to put them to use .

 

I am quite interested in being part of this noble effort

and am trying to identify the people , who can lend

their sustained support and keep track of investments

being used properly thru visits etc .

 

Please give me another week or two and we will get it

done before Pangunin Uttharam day (April 1 ) .

Sir, That a number of Divyadesams devotees come forward for a noble cause is indeed a welcome gesture. However I feel that the amount proposed to be collected is very meagre considering the rising prices and necessities to be met ie., cost of oil, nithyapadi Neivedhyam, Pooja materials, Electricity charges, Kolam and a decent salary/renumeration for the temple staff ie., Bhattachar, watch man and temple cleaning personnel. In my openion at least Rs.10,000 per month per temple is minimum needed to keep the temples function well and attract more and more Bhakthas. I have the following suggestion to make: 1. An Association for the needy DivyaDesam Temples has to be formed and members enrolled. The Association should have Area level branches to take care of a cluster of Divyadesams. 2. At least Rs.20 lakhs has to be earmarked for each of the Divyadesams and

deposited in a safe and sound Institution that will pay maximum monthly interest from which the above mentioned expenses can be met. 3. For 54 Divyadesams we have to collect Rs. 10.8 crores. 4. At the rate of Rs.10,000 per Donor, we have to identify 10800 donors who can contribute this amount either in one lumpsum or in instalments spread over a period of 20 months. 5. It is only an indicative figure. Any amount ranging from Re.1 to infinity is welcome. 6. There are a good number of charities, Philonthrophists, Big Business Houses and Industrialists. They will definitely come forward to Donate. 7. Since section 80D of IT Act provides 100% exemption for donations, IT Dept has to be approached for this purpose. This will enable Tax payers to come forward in large numbers. 8. NRIs can also be contacted for Funds. 9. Ahobila Mutt and Vanamamalai Mutts are

maintaining some Divyadesams. We can take their help and guidance. 10 Shri Muralidhar Swamy and Shri Thirukoshtiyur Madhavan Swamy are already in the service of Divyadesams. Their guidance and suggestions will be very valuable. 11. During my recent visit to some Divyadesams, I was informed that though temples have plenty of Properties, they are being enjoyed by unscruplus elements. We have to ensure that such persons who serve their own needs only are kept out of the activities and the Funds collected are not touchable by them. 12. Though Rs.10.8 crores appears to be a huge sum, it is not that difficult to collect this if a coordinated and well planned initiatives are takenup. I am a retired Sr.Executive of a State owned company of Andhrapradesh. My

pension is to come very shortly. I earmark Rs.10,000 from my pension receivable for this purpose. On receipt 0f this money and until matters materialise I will put the money in a Banks Term Deposit and the entire proceeds will be handed over to the office bearers. I suggest that all enthusiasts of Divyadesams can also start accumulate what ever amount they can spare till matters materialise.

It is most appropriate and timely that Sriman Rajagopalan is taking

the leadership in this Kaimakryam .

 

The most encouraging things about his approach to make

this work are :

 

1. He is realistic about the size and scope of the programs

 

2. He is at Chennai: Geo proximity to the dhivya dEsams

 

3. He is retired and has the time and interest to devote the time

and eneregy .

 

4. He has the overview of the multiple facets of the problems that

one has to surmount and has some concrete suggestions on approach

that can be refined as one goes .

 

5. His considerable experience as a senior Execuitve of State owned

company in AP will be a great asset . Walking amidst the bureaucratic

mines of the Government , Temple administration and the opportunisitic

individuals looking to advance their own welfare needs a tough approach.

 

6. His ideas on developing core funds and using the interests to support

the Kaimakryams with a committe of Volunteers are welcome ideas .

 

7. I was waiting to see some one who is retired , energetic, enthusiastic

and with administrative skills in project management volunteer and it is

heartening to se some one who has the "can do " attitude has signed in .

It is all BhagavAn's ThiruvuLLam .

 

8. Being in New York and managing projects from here like I have done

in the past creates a considerable strain . It may be easy to raise the

funds from here . Many activist upanyAsakAs/selected AchAryAs from India

have followed this golden route to Middle East , Singapore , USA to

support their Kaimkaryams .The good will is there at such places .

The Support from India and overseas will happen as long as there

is accountability and sustenance of projects started .

 

 

On a personal note , Many of You have written to me

on this noble kaimkaryam and asking me to get involved .

As in the past , I have respected your trust and do my best .

 

I have been working on identification of the right person and

start the process of priorotizing problem areas ,

collect funds and channel them and monitor the use or

abuse of funds due to greed or incompetence .

 

I am so happy that Sriman Rajagopalan has now stepped in

energetically . It is very comforting that activities can

move briskly from here on . I will now step aside and volunteer

to support Sri Rajagopalan and the team he assembles

as he moves forward with what little I can do .

 

I encourage all of You , who are interested to share the responsibilites

of this huge project , work with all the other institutions active in this area

and have the strength thru unity to solve the multifaceted challenges .

More than the money dedicated volunteers are required.

Second thing very large area to be covered. It is better to form

smsmaller groups considering the geographical aspects or as

enumerated by our acharyas consider malainadu. pandya nadu, chola
