Support ' SAVE TIRUMALA' Campaign

Dear Devotees of Lord Sri Venkateswara (Sri Balaji),

 

You may be following what is happening at Tirumala, Tirupathi during the last

six months. TTD authorities, in the name of improving the facilities to the

visitors, is categorically destroying the ancient historic structures. The

600-year old 1000-pillar Mandapam was demolished completely. The 1000-year old

house where the temple architect once stayed to formulate the procedures was

removed. The garden from where fresh flowers used to garland our beloved Lord

is now in ruins. Instead flowers from cold storage are given to the Lord.

Even the aaraadhana practices are changed to provide more visitors to pass

through the gates. The world's richest God does not have proper rest or food.

In the name of the 'Master Plan', TTD authorities are destroying the age old

structures, and also planning to build the structures that are against the

Silpasastra principles. In any country in this world, millions is spent to

restore the old glory, but at Tirumala millions is spent to destroy the

heritage.

What do we do about it? Governments and TTD authorities are moving ahead with

the destruction plan. Recent court order has temporarily stopped the

demolitions. Now, it is upto the devotees of the Lord around the world to

dictate the terms to the authorities to not only restore what was destroyed,

but also provide immunity for the future activities. Also, bring back the

practices to serve the Lord as it was originally prescribed by Lord Ramanuja

thousand years ago. Facilities to the visiting devotees can be improved, but

without disturbing the sanctity of Lord's abode. The power and glory of

Tirumala is not only in the sanctum sanctorum, but also the surroundings. All

the structures, gardens, pushkarini, and also people play their part to

maintain the balance.

 

This is what we can do at this stage -

 

1. Visit www.savetirumala.org and sign the petition. You can also email me at

sallakki (AT) comcast (DOT) net to show your support. These signatures will play a very

big part in the court's decision on the future proceedings. Also, the

governments will have to take the mass opinion of the people in making their

decisions.

 

2. In USA, we are planning a peaceful protest in front of the Indian Consulate

in New York, Washington DC, Houston, Chicago and San Francisco on Friday July

30th between 3pm to 5pm. This is how we can show our presence to the Indian

Government, and also get press coverage to bring the awareness to all. We will

have to preserve our heritage for our future generations. Please let me know if

you are willing to participate in this peaceful protest in New York on July 30th

from 3pm to 4pm or 4pm to 5pm (only for one hour). We need to have at least 200

people so that we will be heard. Please call me (609-750-1143) or send me an

email (sallakki (AT) comcast (DOT) net) to show your support. We need to discuss the

logistics of how we can do this effectively. I will call you to discuss. Let

us also discuss any other ideas that can be implemented quickly.

 

This is a test for every devotee of Lord Venkateswara. Let us do our bit.

I am also pained to see that demolitions are being

done with any respect for agamas and religious

sanctity. I am also informed that government of india

official is a member of the trust that is managing the

affairs of the temple. he has been appointed recently.

but there is protest from the employeesw of TTD that

he may interfere. The govt. of india should retain

this official in the board and also ask archeological

department to post a man there permanently to save the

temple if any untoward demoltiions take place.

Further the TTD board should give respect to the

sentiments of the bhaktas and not take any unilateral

decisions on their own.

 

LET THE HEADS OF ALL MADATHIPADHIS GIVE A UNITED CALL

TO SAVE THE TEMPLE FROM THE ZEALOTS.
