Every year Swany's birth day is celebrated as Sai Mussic Festival at

Vaikom.

 

This is a unique festival organised in the name of Swamy.

SRI SATHYA SAI MUSIC FESTIVAL

 

Every year from 18th to 23rd Nov, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithy

enlightens with the melodious voices of the maestros of classical

music. The `Sai sangeetolsavam'

Conducted here has actually become the meeting place of the South

Indian musical world .The presence of eminent personalities like

Vaikom V Dakshinamoorthy, Mavelikkara Prabhakara Varma, Anantha

Lakshmi Venkitaraman, Prof Seethalakshmi, Cochin N P Ramaswami,

Dr.Malini Hariharan has made this program wondrous. This year's

attraction was Smt.Mavelikkara Ponnammal, Chennai O S Thyagarajan,

Prof Raju and Shenkotai Harihara Subramoniam. Mrudangam Maestros

like Parassala Ravi, Dr.M.Balasubramaniam, Shri. Prasad,

Prof.Kadanad V K Gopi, Kangazha Vasudevan Nampoothiri and other

instrumentalists like Vaikom Gopalakrishnan, Chennai and

Thrikkakkara santharam and violinists like Dr.M.N Moorthy,

Saraswathy Moorthy, Sherthallai Sunil also participated in this

year's festival. The concerts of Dr. Omanakutty, Dr. B Arundhathy,

Dr.S.Bhagya Lakshmi, Madhavan Nampoothiry, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and

Maruthorvattom Unnikrishnan were the most notable ones.

 

 

On 23rd Nov, Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Birthday, veterans like

Smt.Parassala Ponnammal,

Sri.Sucheendram Krisna Iyer and O S Thyagarajan were honored by the

local body.

The musicians in the leadership of Mavelikkara P Subramaniyam sang

Tyagaraja panchakeertanam in the Samithy Hall. The most appreciated

concert was given by Senkotta Harihara Subramaniyam. `Jhoola' or

the `divine swinging'; the most inspiring program of the music fest

beatified the minds of the devotees. This festival has become a

Reporter Festival organised to mark birthday of Sathya Sai Baba KOCHI: The 17th edition of Sri Sathya Sai Sangeetholsavam, an annual music festival organised by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Vaikom concluded on Friday. Around 200 eminent artistes participated in this year’s festival. The six-day music fest is organised every year in connection with the birthday celebrations of Sathya Sai Baba. The highlight of the last day was the rendition of Thyagaraja Pancharatna Keerthana in its traditional fervour. Mavelikkara Velukutty Nair, N.P Ramaswamy, Jayan (of musician duo Jaya Vijayan) P.R Kumarakerala Varma, Arakulam Devarajan, Ponkunnam Ramachandran,

Vinayachandran, Kavalam Sreekumar, Varkala C.S Jayaram, Mavelikkara P. Subramanyam, Tamarakkadu Govindan Namboodiri, Changanassery Madhavan Namboodiri, Parvathipuram Padmanabha Iyer, Vechoor Sankar, Malini Hariharan, Mathangi Sathyamurty, Bhuvaneswary, Mavelikkara Ponnammal, Nedumangad Sivanandan, M.N. Murthy, Cherthala Sunil, Rugmini, Padma. S. Thamburan and Parassala Ravi participated in the Pancharatna. Felicitated Mr. Mavelikkara Velukutty Nair and Mr. Jayan were honoured at the festival by the Vaikom municipality for their yeoman service to music. Kavalam Sreekumar and Vechoor Sankar led the special devotional musical programme “JOOLA” held on the last day. At an earlier function Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan released the book titled “Vedapadmam” by handing over the first copy to Jancy James, Vice-Chancellor, M.G.
