Guest guest Report post Posted July 31, 2001 VARA LAKSHMI VRATA August 3, 2001(Friday) 7:00 pm Vara Lakshmi Vratam will be performed by a woman for her husband's welfare and long life. Maha Lakshmi is the abode of all auspiciousness and Prosperity. This worship of Maha Lakshmi is done to obtain good progeny, and for the health and well-being of the husband. LORD SHIVA describes the significance of this Vrata in Skanda Purana Lakshmi not only bestows wealth and all sorts of material prosperity, but also imparts divine wisdom to all Her devotees. She is Vidya Shakti. She introduces Her devotees to Her Lord. She recommends them to Her Lord for their salvation. The Vrata is observed on the Friday immediately preceding the full moon day in the month of Sravan. This year Full moon falls on August 4. That means Vrata will be done on the preceding Friday which falls on August 3, 2001. The Vrata Program at Datta Temple is listed below: 1) Ganesh Puja - to remove the obstacles 2) Kalasha Puja - Invoke Vara Lakshmi in to Kalasha which is filled with water.
