I have inherited from my father, pratimas and Mrithike Brundavana of Sri Rayaru. I am doing my daily puja. What I miss is a saligrama. I do not have one. I have seen and also heard that people have many saligramas with them without doing any puja. Such people, who do not have time to do puja, may come forward to atleast donate a saligrama to others. In two houses alone, I have seen more than 20 saligramas, simply put in a box and kept on a loft. They praise their possession but do not wish to donate one to others. My main idea of writing this mail is to seek one more thing. The Mukyaprana pratima, i have is so beautifully carved and ancient, index finger height. He is alone. I am looking for pratimas of Sri Sita sametha Ramachandramurthy. If anybody has any idea, please write to me. Guest guest Report post Posted February 9, 2005 Dear Fellow Madhwa-s & Devotees: While on this subject of shaalagraama-s, I wish to write that many of us have been in the same quest for collecting shaalagraama-s from sources where they are no longer worshipped for many years. It's truly very hard to find families who are willing to give their shaalagraama-s away, even though they may no longer be receiving worship. And - in this age, it is nearly impossible to find genuine visheSha-lakShaNa shaalagraama-s in Nepal. What is sold in the cities there are mostly fakes. Further, it's next to impossible to go safely Damodar Kund to obtain them - particularly now now that there are so many political problems in Nepal. Even going to Muktinath is a risk for US Citizens. Indeed there are many families which possess them, do not offer any worship to them, and yet are not willing to give them to someone who would. For past many years, I too have been humbly asking everyone I've met to see if they or anyone they know may have shaalagraamas which are no longer receiving worship and to pass my request onto such families to consider passing such shaalagraamas onwards to a person who would continue to worship them daily. What Shri.Pavankumar & Shri.Rao have written is so true - worshipping shaalagraama-s gives such an inner joy & satisfaction that cannot be achieved or experienced elsewhere. Worshipping them and keeping them in worship in your home only makes one feel a greater urge to collect more of them for the same purpose. Those people who have inherited shaalagraamas from their forefathers are truly very very lucky & Blessed. I have mentioned relevant references. I am sure all puranas when they talk about Sristi and Daksha prajapathi, they will mention about AstaVasukkal and their clan. Vishnu puranam (Prathama amsha, adyayam 15) deals with asta vasus and their family in detail. Sloka 108: Daksha got his 10 daughters out of 60, in marriage to Dharma. Among them second wife is Vasu. From Vasu asta vasu's were born. Ye twanekavasupranadevaa jyotihi purogamaaha| vasavoostou samakhyaatasteshaam vakshyami vistaram || (111) Including jyothi, tejas and balam for them adidevatas are astavasus. I myself have a desire to learn tamil so that I can read Tiruvaimozhi and other works in tamil and dip in devotion with them. Right now I read Tamil through Kannada.
