NEW POSTING

Friend

Mool Mantra means Root Mantra. OM is the Mool Mantra and the only Mantra as per Gita.

Beej Mantra are seeds when chanted repeatedly creates a specific emotional and mental condition by a combined effect of sound vibration and the meaning sinking deep in sub-conscious.Om Namah Sivay,Gayatri Mantra ,Mahamritunjay Mantra,Mahalakshmi Mantra are example.

Another view is sound for activating/energizing specific chakra is beej mantra.

Mantra Japa has four stages, loudly. With sound audible to self only,Without sound and lastly with every incoming and outgoing breath.

Mantra Jap is one of the practice to control wavering mind.

I believe when Gita recommends OM only it is better to practice that only.

But any sloka/verse of Gita can be a good mantra depending upon objective.

If there are relationship issues or physical issues related to heart including blood pressure ,chanting of "Iswara Sarvabhutanam Hridayadese Tishathati" (God resides in the heart of every being) will be a very good mantra and chanting it for ten minutes even for a week will produce good result.

Those who do not have heart related issues can also try this.

To sum up,OM is the only Mantra recommended in Gita and every verse(sloka) can be used as Mantra.

regards

Ashok

Dandavat pranams to all in this forum...

From my small experience, what I have been privileged to perceive of the Hindu/Vaisnava culture, these mantras are very private. They are not meant to be publicly spoken, nor are they given to everyone. They are meant to increase an awareness of one's personal relationship with the Supreme Person, in the particular form which one is accustomed to worshiping Him. Simultaneously they purify the heart.

The reason they are not given to eveyone? The same reason that a child who has not studied calculus and algebra needs to begin with basic addition and subtraction. Then multiplication and division. There is no value placing a child who has not become proficient in the basics in a class on algebra or calculus.

So, who gives the bij mantra? The mula mantra? Only a qualified guru, who can see the heart of the disciple, and know if he or she is ready for that type of meditation.

About four or five years ago, my husband was in India....he had traveled there with an individual who was extremely bi-polar. The other man was threatening to jump off the roof of one of the dharmashalas. So, Gurudeva requested my husband to take the man back to the United States. My husband was somewhat dismayed, thinking, "but I'll miss the rest of the parikrama", but still he accepted the order. Gurudeva reciporocated with his willingness to do the needful by giving him a bij mantra to Lord Nrshngadeva. At that time, everyone else was sent out of the room, only my husband and Gurudeva. It is a very private exhcnage, very sacred. Gurudeva told him to chant this prayer always, that it would protect him in times of danger. And that has been definitely a blessing, as this world is full of constant danger.

Respectfully,

Dear Sadaks,Beeja Mantra is a mantra which originated from seed level. Like seed is the cause for a tree. Beeja Mantra is cause for potential mantras.Mool Mantra. Moolam is origination. Mool mantra is the first mantra. Like AUM (Om)Normally mantras if said wrongly or said in wrong time, or pronounced wrongly could result in havoc. Only under guidance of SAT Guru it can be learn t.Jai Sri KrishnaB.Sathyanarayan----------------------GITA TALK GROUP GUIDELINES: PLEASE -FOR QUESTIONER1.
