The caption of the picture of Sabaraimala says that the snap was taken when King Balarama Varma came with his retinue in 1942. The picture was taken by Marthanda Varma in his camera.

Thanks for posting the nostalgic picture. Nostalgic because all black-and-white pictures evoke images of a bygone era, which we have actually witnessed. Also, a temple in the midst of a dense jungle is so reassuring.

 

Does anybody have any explanation about the Mahara Vilakku that people are supposed to see from the top of the hill? Is it a true phenomenon? Is it a manmade occurrence? I'm just seeking some clarification here. I do not wish to hurt anybody's spiritual beliefs or sentiments......
