Loose stool after Oleander

Hi All,

My mother has been taking OPC Oleander since August 15, 08- she is

now on 4 pills a day.

She's had some loose stool since the past 2 days. I know this is

normal with Oleander but she's eaten outside food just before it

started, so I'd be grateful for some pointers on what to expect with

loose stools caused by Oleander. How long should it last, should I

reduce the dose and how long for, should I give any medication for

the loose stools.

She had some reddish stool today- could it be because she had

Beetroot juice earlier? Is it okay to do the liver cleanse if she

already has loose stools - its not really diarrhea.

She's feeling fine otherwise but I want to be careful because she

seems to have developed an extremely sensitive stomach and had a

very serious stomach infection 2 months ago which went into the

blood.

Thanks,

Nomita

Nomita,

Tony and Marc will be along I am sure to reply to your questions. My

question would be though, is the dose being increased too quickly? You

may want to decrease the dose a bit until she stabilizes. But Marc

and/or Tony will be along to reply to you in depth.

However, with regard to the infection in the stomach and to prevent

further infection, have you thought of giving your mom colloidal silver?

I believe this would take care of the problem. It will in no way harm

your mother and it is impossible to overdose on colloidal silver. This

is nature's antibiotic and where antibiotics don't work, colloidal

silver most certainly will.

Hugs,

Loose bowels and clean livers (or free flowing bile ducts) really have

no relation to one another. As long as your mother does not have

outright diarrhea, the loose stools should not be a worry. The same

with the reddish color, unless it continues when she has not drank any

beetroot juice.

Keep us posted please!

Nomita,

If I remember correctly there was a batch of SutherlandiaOPC that

wasn't filtered as well as it should have been and can cause diarrhea. You

might want to email Marc at Sutherlandia and ask him if this is a

possibility.

Reduced the dose to 2 capsules a day (from 4) since yesterday. There was some blood in the stool yesterday although it wasn't loose anymore. Today, there was no blood and it wasn't loose either.

Will try 3 capsules from day after tomorrow, if you think that's slow enough.

Should I try the liver cleanse over the weekend?

Thanks,

Nomita

Dear Nomita,

The batch referred to was produced for me by a registered herbalist about 18 months ago and I have not sent any of those bottles to anyone since I became aware of the problem about 12 months ago. Other references to filtering problems were not related to my product but was a general suggestion about the home-made extracts.

The products that were sent to you were produced by a registered pharmaceutical company near Cape Town and have undergone very stringent quality controls.

Loose stools are different from diarrhea and one should not worry too much about that. The blood in the stool is not from the S/OPC.

The weekend will be a good time to try the liver cleanse.

Regards,

Marc
