Hair Conditioner

Makes 440 grams w/o fragrance

19 grams Polawax

16 grams Conditioning Emulsifier

4 grams T-50

4 grams Unrefined Rosehip Oil

4 grams Meadowfoam Seed oil

334 grams distilled water or hydrosol

4 grams silk amino acids

4 grams dl-panthenol

1 gram allantoin

4 grams Crodamol STS (can also use cylclomethicone or dimethicone)

3 grams Keratec PEP (can also use Wheat protein)

1 gram Awapuhi Extract (add to oil)

1 gram silk powder (reserve small amt of oil to dissolve)

1 gram Germall Plus (powder) or preservative of choice - use

appropriate percentage

1 - 1.5 tsp fragrance

Notes:

~Heat distilled water and silk amino acids to 165F. Take off heat. Add

dl panthenol and allantoin when water has slightly cooled.

~When measuring oils, keep out a small amt to dissolve silk powder. Set

aside. Heat remainder of oil and emulsifiers until melted.

~ Slowly add oils/emulsifier to water phase. (Be sure allantoin and dl

panthenol has dissolved first. ) Zap with blender.

~Add crodamol , keratec , and silk powder. Zap with blender.

~When cooled, add Germall Plus . Add fragrance.

You can lessen the amount of Polowax slightly to make this a thinner

conditioner.

Hmmmm . . . never thought of adding allantoin to conditioner. What does it add

to the rinse? I make one very similar to this and love it. Hard to believe it

can be so simple and turn out so darn good. My favorite fragrance is Rosemary

and Peppermint or Spearmint. Reminds me of Aveda that I used for years.

Wow, if you make this, I'll buy some. I'm not good at making

toiletries, I leave that to the experts. This formula looks great,

amino acids, etc.

Allantoin helps to stimulate the growth of healthy skin and hair tissue.

It also helps to heal skin irritations so I add it to my conditioner for

that reason. I do a Rosemary and Peppermint as well, that is one of my

most popular blends. I think because my customers say it reminds them

of Aveda even though I've never smelled it!!

Thanks, Nikie. So it is for the scalp . . . good idea.

Aveda was the only shampoo/conditioner I purchased for years. Their Rosemary

Mint was fab . . . just why I made mine with that combo but at a FRACTION of the

cost!!
