Guest guest Report post Posted July 3, 2009 The first pooja to be performed in any temple is the Nirmalya pooja. The poojari lights the lamp and the devotees may see the lord with all the floral decorations of the previous evening. The poojari conducts the Nirmalya pooja and then slowly removes all the flowers, garlands etc. These are called nirmalyam. After this he bathes the idol for getting ready for the rituals of the day. In Guruvayur, the melsanthi bathes the idol with oil and then with vaka powder he covers the idol. This is called the vaka charthu. Vaka charthu is the first ritual of the day and after bathing the lord with water etc. the idol is left with a silk kaupeenam and with a roll of butter in the hand. Nirmalya pooja takes very little time. say half an hour. --- On Thu, 2/7/09, Navami Exports <navamiexports wrote: Navami Exports <navamiexports[Guruvayur] Nirmalyamguruvayur Date: Thursday, 2 July, 2009, 5:32 PM Please can anybody explain correctly about Nirmalyam(pooja) .
