Dear Shri Chandrashekar,

Thanks for your recommendations. Do these books give a lot of example
charts? Also, have you read the Hindi commentary version on BHPS by
Pt. Sitaram Jha? I have heard that it is very good.

Dear Sagar,
Namaste,

I have with me the hindi translation of BPHS by Pt. Sitaram Jha, who from a
hand written version of Hora Shstra , had written this version of BPHS. The
hand written book was with Daivajna Jeevanath Jha of Kashi, who had given this
to his sisya Pt. Kashinath Jha ,from whom Pt Sitaram received the hand written
copy.

The book is famous as the translation was done by a great pandit . There is not
much of commentary in it, neither any example chart.

PS.: Dr. Ramans ' How to judge a horoscope ' was translated in Hindi by Z.
Ansari, who was a faculty member of the school of astrology at Bharatiya Vidya
Bhavan, New Delhi. Perhaps the name of the Hindi book is ' Jataka Nirnay ' ,
published by Motilal Banarsidass.

I have seen another very good book in Hindi which was written many many years
ago and was published a few years back by motilal banarsidass.The book is "
Chamatkara Chntamani " by Vraj Viharilal Sharma . This book deals with the
placement of Planets in different Bhavas. The commentary is very detailed .

But is you ask me, I'll recommend you two books, two classics, translated by Pt.
Gopesh Kumar Ojha in Hindi. One is "Jataka Parijata" in 2 volumes and the other
is "Phaladeepika " in 1 volume. The commentary of both the books is excellent
and detailed. There are plenty of example charts, in Jataka Parijata . For
learning the basic secrets of Natal Chart analysis, Pt. Ojha's commentary of
Jataka Parijata is really good .

Hindi translation of the Brihat Jatakam is also excellent, and perhaps the most
exhaustive description of placements of planets in different bhavas is in
Jataka Parijata.

Dear Sagar,
I have these books with me.They are excellent. The reason is that they give
detailed comments as to why they are interpreting a particular shloka in a
particular way and also give opinion of other commentators.Emxample charts are
also given.
I give more importance in the way the commentary is written than the example
charts as any known event can always be made to fit one's theory and one is
also influenced by how one views a known or historical figure.
I have not read Pt. Setaram Jha's Commentary on BPHS. If I can get hold of it, I
shall let you know my opinion about it.
