What actually combust planets signify? i read if planets are with sun in the

same house they get combusted. In this case, if those planets are combusted,

are they termed as malefic or neutral?

Dear nisha,

Planets ahead of the sun or retrograde (only venus in direct motion) are not

said to be combust...even if they are in the orb of combustion. That means for

any planet to get combusted the following conditions must apply,

1. They must be within orb of combustion from sun

2. They must be behind sun and in direct motion.

3. Retrograde venus..even if it is ahead of sun...will be combust as when venus

is retrograde, it is behind the sun as viewed from the earth.

To quote Sanjayji,

"Combustion is a state of being and is another AVASTHA like retrogression. In

combustion the planet loses its own Rays whereas a planet in retrogression is

full of

Rays (Venus being the exception). Thus the combustion of a planet indicates its

lack of influence on the chart by way of its natural nature and the planet

shall be obliged to work for the sun alone and its significations. It shows a

person who is under the dominating influence of a superior in the matters

related to the signification of the planet. For example if Venus is combust,

the artistic side can be lacking whereas if Mercury is combust the learning

abilities are clouded or simply focused on the activities of the sun (Dharma)

and other learning is not present or not of much consequence.

In the converse if a planet is retrograde, then its influence is very strong as

it tends to initially give a strong desire and then abilities as well but not

the results. The results are very difficult to achieve as the person is over

ambitious in matters related to it and has very high GOALS."

the phenomena of combustion is generally over emphasised. It is to be kept in

mind that it indicates the suppression of certain desires indicated by the

Graha's.

As per some openions, if a planet is within 5 to 7 degrees of sun it is said to

be in orbs of real combustion .. where effects are distinct. I am not very

sure..Gurus and learned members may please guide on this.

Re: [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] Re: Achyuta Gurukul] Combust Planets

dear dasg, how to calculate this distance? moreover if say lagna lord, 9L, and

other most of quadrant trine lords get into periphery of sun then what shall be

implications? does that mean Sun has more to say for the whole life? and what

when sun gets deb.? regards, Nisha "j.k. dasgupta" <dga (AT) bom5 (DOT) vsnl.net.in>

dear nisha,

as i know...in combustion house placement does not matter, the distance matters.

for example..if sun is in Cn and mars is in Le but within combustible

distance..mars will get combusted. the combust planet will not show its

effects. but sun will take over and give the planet's effect during sun

dasa...most probably AD's will be effective.

Gurus and other learned member may please correct me.
