....Sentuvar vAy vArAr vanamulaiyAL vaitEvi kAraNamA
For the sake of the exceptionally red-lipped and corseted vaidEhi
yErAr taDandOL irAvaNanai
iraindu SIrAr Siramaruttu
ccettu kanda SengaN mAl
The red eyed Lord who rejoiced after felling asunder the ten wealthy heads of
the mighty shoulded RAvaNa.
Detailed interpretation :
1) For the sake of exceptionally red-lipped and corseted vaidEhi :
VaidEhi = which is different from the body = Atma.
Exceptionally red-lipped - Indicative of the great love, which flows out of
those lips as songs of adulation.
The two stanAs of the Mother - Signifying the (two kinds of) love which gushes
out of Her heart.
1) Love towards Her Lord.
2) Love towards Her children.
corset - Her pAratantrayam which braces Her love. It is the thought of existing
solely for the sake of Her Lord and Her children.
Those who treasure a similar love (towards the Lord and bhAgavatAs)
and pAratantrayam, who always speak endearing words bespeaking such love are the
ones being alluded through the descriptive phrase - "the exceptionally
red-lipped and corseted vaidEhi".
He shields and entertains such souls through acts like the one
described below.
2) The red-eyed Lord who rejoiced after cutting asunder the ten wealthy heads of
the mighty shouldered RavaNa :
RavaNa - The mind filled with rajO guNa.
Shoulders - Those, which abet the perpetrations of such a RavaNa. They are well
decorated with the ornaments acquired by plundering the weak.
Mighty (vast) shoulders - Indicative of the large number of such partners in
crime viz
1) the kAma, krOdha, mOha, mada, mAtsaryAs;
2) pravrutti and nivrutti of the ten indriyAs i.e., the predisposition towards
the wicked deeds and the reluctance in doing good actions.
The ten wealthy heads - Indicating the ten indriyAs ( 5 karmEndriyAs and 5
jnAnEndriyAs). These ten are wealthy in the sense that they have gained mastery
in commiting immoral acts.
The soul gets enslaved to such amoral thoughts and deeds on
account of its association with the prakruti. It experiences pain and pleasure
(pain often being the leader) under the influence of prakruti and keeps
struggling in vain to set itself free.
He quells such an association, which seperates the soul from Him
and rejoices. This He does by controlling the prakruti. And the soul relieved
from the pangs of the prakruti rejoices along with Him.
He is the one with immensly bewitching eyes that are thoroughly
reddened due to His profuse love for us. He rules the prakruti and the jIvAs. He
is the "pradhAna puruShESvara". By controlling the prakruti, He delights the
puruSha.
