Srimad Ramayana Tatva Deepika#76 (Ba:la Ka:nda)
Srimathe Ramanujayanamaha!
Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam!!
Valmiki Bhagavan and his disciples were spellbound. Later his disciples started
singing the sloka. Singing again and again they felt happy and wondered, “This
sloka can be divided into four pa:da:s and in every ‘pada’ there are eight
letters.” As they went on repeating cheerfully it became a sloka. Sloka means
one which can be glorified repeatedly.
Valmiki who was visualizing Bhagavan in his mind felt he should author the whole
Ramayana in such slokas. Maharshi Valmiki ‘mananasi:la’ with a benevolent heart,
using the grand ‘vritthas’; meaningful words; hundreds of pleasant verses with
equal number of letters, composed Ramayan that would boost the fame of the
renowned , that would bestow ‘keerthi’ to Sri Rama Himself who was famous all
over the world.
Sri Ramayanam is the maha ka:vyam embedded with rich ‘sama:sam’, sandhi:s and
words as per the dictates of the sastras. It consists of lines equal in length
with clear and sweet meaning. It expounds the legend of Rama, the renowned in
the Raghuvamsa. It is being written by ‘me’ named Valmiki. In this, the episode
of 'Dasakantta Ravana Vadha’ will be explained. You listen to that. No! You see
that. As one listens to it, the whole story appears clearly before the mind’s
eye. So Sage Valmiki said, “You see.”
Second sarga of Ba:la Ka:nda concluded.
Jai Srimannarayana!
