THE VEDANTA philosophy embedded in the Upanishads is
supreme wisdom that was given by Sage Vyasa in the
form of cryptic aphorisms, called the Brahma Sutras.

The first of the Upanishads, and the shortest too, is
Isa or Isavasya Upanishad. It contains 18 verses,
called mantras. The author has chosen, and rightly so,
to seek to interpret these sayings, "as they are". And
he has done it with great competence. Let us bear in
mind that these texts are words of eternal wisdom and
contain maxims that should inform our everyday life
and action.

The author explains the words, gives a gist and then
expands its import to make it relevant to our everyday
life. Each chapter contains a liberal list of
references with complete locations, an assignment
consisting of objective question items, a list of do's
and don'ts to the reader in regard to his daily
behaviour (as informed by the particular mantra), a
set of Vedantic exercises and the author's own hints
for solving the assignment questions.

It will be a guidebook of matchless value to our
politicians and public servants also.
