I just purchased an aarti tray and the person I got it from gave me a Blowing Conch as a special gift.

Well I have tried till im blue in the face but I just cant get any sound out of this conch.

I dont even know if I am doing it correctly. Can anyone instruct me how to blow a conch? is there something special I need to do that I am missing?

It is very hard to do but once you do it you will never forget.

Make your mouth into a very small and very tight 'O". Take a very deep breath and blow.

That is the best I do. Maybe someone can explain better but that is how I do it.

Another secret is to make sure you stand the conch up to drain the water from it after each arati. The conches mildew very quickly and easily inside if you do not do this.

be sure to vibrate your lips while you blow, but ever so slightly. Kind of like playing a trumpet.
