Re: Setting The Navel
Sat Nam Otto,
Isn't Nabhi kriya empowering! There is a beautiful kriya I use for
setting the navel and opening the heart- Nabhi kriya for Prana-Apana,
it is a joy to practice. You can find it on line, or in the book_The
Kundalini Yoga Experience, Bringing, Body, Mind, and Spirit Together,
written by Guru Dharam S. Khalsa and Darryl O'Keefe.(page 81).
I've been using this and Nabhi kriya for 60 days and feeling empowered
with an open heart is quite an experience. More love and awareness in
life!
Another idea that I use is simply continue with the Nabhi Kriya and add
your "Heart meditation", I've used this kriya a preparatory to
meditation and it works very well indeed. The meditation the
Gururattana taught in NM Being for Opening the Heart is really a good
one to try as well. Stretch pose is great to add to your warm-ups, the
Transitions To A Heart Centered World has many warmup exercises to
choose from, you can be creative according to following the
instructions.
Enjoy, be well.

Re: Setting The Navel
Sat Nam Otto,
Did you injure your back doing the kriya or in another area of your
life? I hope you don't mind me asking but I am curious.
I too can recommend Nabhi Kriya for Prana Apana, it is a fantastic set
- 1st 1/2 really strong navel work & the 2nd half is a flowing heart
centred meditation which really allows you to work with the energy
released from the navel earlier in the set. The other option which
could work is pranayam (remember the home of prana is the heart
chakra), warm up, stretch pose (set the navel), sat kriya (release
stored navel energy), with a heart centred meditation to distribute &
assimilate the released navel energy for e.g meditation for a calm
heart is v powerful & healing. Just a thought.

Gurubala, Sydney OZ

Re: Setting The Navel
Sat Nam Gurubala,
I initially injured my back whilst doing cobra pose (through lack of
attention!). I rested for a while and the pain subsided but I then
further injured it through lifting.
I started the nabhi kriya for prana-apana with the minimum times
yesterday, so far so good. Looking forward to day 40!
Is following the kriya with a heart meditation recommended? Or would
I be better doing one for the neutral mind (I have a 4 and a 7 in the
challenging positions of my numerology chart).
Many Thanks
Otto

Re: Setting The Navel
Hey Otto,
Backs are tricky things aren't they? I guess you are getting a few
messages now to be mindful of yours, I hope you recover well. A
strong nabhi will help protect your lower spine that is for sure.
It sounds like you already know what meditation to do! Personally, I
find the kriya pretty complete as it is. My heart chakra feels
balanced & open from the 2nd part of the kriya, so see how yours
feels & if you feel like you need a little more for the heart upon
completeing the kriya go for it.
As for the neutral mind meditation, if its in a challenging position
in your chart it is likely that sooner or later on your KY path you
will find yourself working with it, just when that is is up to you.
As Yogi Bhajan says, "now is the time & the time is now", you'll
know when its the now for the work you need to do, trust your inner
teacher you sound like you are doing great.
In love & light,
Gurubala

Re: Setting The Navel
Sat Nam Gurubala,
Im not too sure how to tell if my heart centre is open after the
Kriya, all I know is I feel better for doing it! I maybe don't have
the awareness yet.
I've decided to do the the dhrib dhristi meditation after the kriya
that GuruRattana outlined in NMB Libra. I know i'll have to work on
my numerological challenges at some point so better sooner rather
than later i guess! I feel that I've got a good balanced sadhana now.
Morning sadhana consists of nabhi, heart and neutral mind exercises
and the evening set consists of aura work (my other challenge number
is 7). My inner world is starting to open up a bit for me now, I know
im at the start of a long journey but am excited to see how things
will progress over time.
Love to all,
Otto
