Default Venus Lock

I have a question re venus lock. In Sadhana Guidelines it says to put the
left little finger on the bottom- implies men and women- which leaves women
with their forefinger and thumb next to each other, not intertwined. In
Shakti's new beginner yoga manual, she says no two fingers on the same hand
should be next to each other, which would mean women would have their right
little fingers on the bottom. This feels more natural, but I'm not sure if it
is right. Any opinions or clarifications appreciated. Ram Rattan Singh

It is true that no two fingers on the same hand should be together,
but there is another aspect to venus lock. When the mudra
is "unspecified venus lock" (no particular instructions), then men
have right thumb on top and women have left thumb on top (or left
little finger on bottom vs. right little finger on bottom).

However, there are times when a particular meditation will specify
the venus lock as being right thumb on top (or left), and in that
case it applies to both men and women.

Many blessings,
Sadhant

I'm female and what if it feels more comfortable to have the right thumb on
top with left pinky on bottom? Is that okay? Does it mean anything?
