Default Ashrams or households? - 01-30-2001, 08:06 AM

Do most members of 3HO (followers of Yogi Bajan) now live in ashrams or
in their own households? I remember in the early 70's when it was the
former. One could travel almost anywhere in the country and join or
visit a 3HO ashram or just attend classes. Many of the ashrams operated
health food restaurants, juice bars or other cottage businesses. Most
residents were in their 20's in those days.

Just curious.

This is something that I would love to know as well. I live in Montreal,
Canada, and I am looking to do some intensive work in the coming months.
Are there any ashrams near me...?? I would really like to head down to New
Mexico, but if I can't do it soon, I would like another option.

Also.. on another topic.... last night in class, during relaxation, I found
that I had all of this undirected energy in my body. I keep twitching!
Everytime I tried to concentrate on my breathing and relax, it's like I
would get this weird fear that I was going to "lose it" and I would jump
back out of it. It's really difficult to explain. Normally, I am able to
slow my breath down to 3 to 4 breaths per minute during this time, but last
night was just crazy! Even today, I am "full of beans", as they say. Not
in the gaseous sense.. ) hahaha...... but just really full of energy..
so much so that I want to run around and be silly. We were doing a class
focussing on the 2nd chakra last night, if this has anything to do with it.

Any thoughts on my wacked out energy??

)

Hello, Kelly.

Perhaps we should form a support group for wacked-out, undirected energy.
I, too, have experienced that... not every time I do KY, but often. For
me it is also most noticeable when I am trying to relax. Corpse pose is a
hoot when this is going on: I can't keep warm no matter how many blankets I
have piled on me, I can barely keep my eyes closed, my teeth chatter, my
body vibrates, my limbs retain postures. My teacher tells me this changes
with time and becomes more subtle... an enjoy it while you have it
attitude.

Sat Nam.

Thanks for the info. the 3HO site is down right now so I'll check back
periodically.
My teacher never mentioned an Ashram here, certainly not a Kundalini one. I
know of the Sivananda Ashram near Quebec.... but that is the only one I can
think of.

I'll talk to my teacher and see if maybe one was here.

thanks again,
sat nam....

Dear Kelly,

Humm, I don't see Montreal on the list. There used to be a very big ashram
there. Check the ikyta@... and see what comes up for Canada.

Anyone wanted to find teachers this is the link.

Gururattan Kaur
