So very true, and sad if we let this happen.
Petitions? Writing local GBCs? To the GBC Secretary? Email campaign?
What do you recommend we do to lobby the Standards through?

Writing the local GBC is a good suggestion, as well as writing the GBC
secretary.

Also you could publicly post your comments showing the need for cow
protection standards and your appreciation of the cow conference committee
and Ministry of Cow Protection and Agriculture for working all year to
create these standards.

Apparently there is a committee this year to read propsals and then present
them to the GBC. Sesa prabhu is bringing the standards (25 hard copies
printed on both sides-about 7 pages and a cover page-1 additional page) to
the committee. I would then think it would be up to Sesa and whoever to ask
the committee, "Well what is happening with the Cow Standards."

Maybe talk to your local GBC so they have a chance

Very good idea. Could everyone do this?

Yes, I reread everything before sending to Sesa and it is pretty fair. They
just have to appoint a mnitor and then they do not have to do much more then
they are doing.

The problem I have heard is that the GBC get so snowed under with stuff they
literally don't have time to read everything. And the standards are long if
you
are not a trained skimmer. Maybe talk to your local GBC so they have a chance
to
read them in advance and indicate that you have read them with comprehension
and
are in agreement with them.

The problem with a lot of it is that if you don't know much about cows, you
really wouldn't know if the standards are realistic or not, but if you hear
from someone that knows and they say it works for them, they will be more
inclined.

Of course, the sticky part is the stuff they will understand, like the
responsibilities of monitoring that will fall on them personally.
